I have 3 blue danio with some other fish in a 5 gallon tank. I bought some other fish and know one of the blue danio that was always at the top with the other 2 is just lying on the floor. And his face looks kind of weird. Whats going to happen? The water in the tank is all clean.
What can I do?

NO!! grr i see this way too often where college students or parents will buy a betta, but it in a small bowl with ice cold water and leave it there, cause they heard bettas can live without any maintenance. what a load of crock. i hate to see bettas in little bowls with nowhere to move. they do amazing with other tetras, and livebearers. just not with other bettas of course. bettas need heat. and proper food. and regular 1/4 water changes weekly, so my question is, does anyone else know this?

I bought him at the third pet store I went to. All the others had discolored Bettas and I didn't think that it was healthy. At the last pet store, I found a discolored one, but with a beautiful body/tail. He's got red on his fins, but the rest of him is white. I was wondering if that is normal. The lady at the pet store told me that he'd get his color back soon. Is there anything I can do to help him...or is he destined to be discolored forever?

I am, of course, searching for the cheapest possible online shop to purchase the following chemicals for my reef aquarium: Iron II Gluconate, Manganese II Chloride, Zinc Sulfate, Potassium Iodide, Strontium Chloride, Potassium Fluoride, and Sodium Bromide. If anyone can provide me with a useful link I would be most appreciative.

I just bought a golden algae eater two days ago and put him into my 20 gallon tank. After about an hour, I found him seemingly dead in that tank. Since he was upright but not breathing, it seemed like he may have a chance, so I moved him into my 3 gallon quarantine tank to see if he might survive. Over the next few hours, he began to breathe again, move again, and stick to the tank wall again. In the morning, he was happily swimming around the tank excitedly. Same thing was going on about an hour ago. Ten minutes ago I found him upside down in the front of the tank and not breathing. I righted him, and I'm waiting to see if he'll pull another miracle. I have had the same thing happen to two other algae eaters which I have put in the 20 gallon (I actually thought those were dead so I took them out), and this particular algae eater had a problem with climbing too far up the sides of the tank and above the water line.
Is it possible that he climbed too high, and then fainted and sank?

I'm moving in about two weeks, about 3-4 miles down the road. I have 4 gouramis, in a 30 gallon tank, and I am wondering what is the best method in moving them with me.
Should I gather them and put them in a bag until the tank is settled in the new house, which will only take about max 30 minutes to get it loaded and unloaded.
Are there any other methods in moving my fish, so they won't be so stressed out?
Thanks for the help!

I have a bleeding heart tetra and i went on vacation for a few weeks, while a friend took care of my fish for me. When i got back, i noticed that the bleeding heart tetra had developed a black marking on its top fin. What's going on? I never had anything like this before.....its been more than 2 weeks, and the mark has still not gone away. Anyone?

I am considering getting some betta fish. I already have a tank with a filter-system; is this okay to use with betta? When I had goldfish, they often got stuck to the pipe and died. Also, can betta be healthy without being fed worms? What kinds of betta do you suggest for a beginner?

I'm doing a report on setting up a fish aquarium.

Do you have to cycle freshwater tanks AND saltwater tanks?
Is the process the same for both instances?

thanks =)

I put salt in the water..I do a partial change often..(maybe 1 to 2x's month)
they do fine at first...then they start hanging around the heater and slowing down...but still moving around and feeding..then they get more lethargic and more lethargic..then they die. A couple of them got what is called "whirling disease"
I tried medicated food, and a couple of them died of starvation (seemingly) they refused to eat the food.
I give them 1 tbsp per 10 gallons for salt.
I've tried ick treatment, completely sanitizing the tank, melafix, antibiotics, everything..I want fish that will give me babies (no, please don't suggest guppies, I have another tank for them) The mollys are about 5 in a 40 gallon tank. I want them to give me babies but they die before they give birth usually, and the one that did give birth there was a big power outage and they all died of cold exposure. :''(
