Sounds like she may die.....sorry. Have you checked the levels of your water the fish are in? Sounds like the toxic levels are high. Take a small sample to any good pet store and have them test the water for you to see what is going on. A good aquarium shop can tell you what is killing them by testing the sample of your water.

OwNaGeR really does not understand bettas or water chemistry. Distilled water is bad as it lacks minerals, isa bit too basic and acidic, and prone to rapid shifts in pH. Tap water is fine for betta as long as you remove the chlorine. This can be done with a water treatment from your LFS, or just aging it in an open container for 48 hours.

As you might guess the behavior of your betta generally means she's feeling poorly. Exactly why we really don't have enough info. Common causes of bettas dying:

0)Bad water conditions. High ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels. A bowl needs to be clean every week, or every 4 days if under 2 gallons. Bad water condition cause stress, and often lead to disease. (Assuming swimming in their own wastes doesn't kill them 1st.)
1)Over feeding betta will eat themselves to death if you let them. They need to be fed about as much food as their eye ball once a day, 5-6 days a week. Skip a day or 2 a week is healthy. Over feeding leads to #0
2)Low temps. A betta needs to be kept in 75-85F as they are tropical fish from thailand. Below 70 is unhealthy, and below 65F is generally lethal.
3)Rapid change. Rapid changes in temp, or water chemistry can be deadly. Or lead to disease.
4)Disease. A healthy betta who lives alone really does have much chance of getting sick. That said any of the above can stress him/her and leave him/her open to disease.

She probably died due to poor water conditions. Were you keeping her in a tiny bowl (less than 1 gallon)? If so, it's not healthy for them and you need to do daily water changes. Next time, get a bigger bowl, preferably something with a filter, and do frequent water changes to prevent the ammonia and nitrite levels from rising.

What water were you using? If you were using distilled, there are no nutrients for the Betta fish to eat. If you were using tap water, you needed to use a special chemical that they sell at fish shops, or else the water has too many minerals and nutrients. That could be your problem =)

Sorry about your fish.

And Saberdude..that's exactly what I said. Freakin' noob.
