Remove the dead guppy from the tank. Do you have other fish? Do you know why the guppy died? Check your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels. If your ammonia or nitrite are anything but 0ppm they are too high, which results in fish death. If your nitrate is above 40ppm, it is too high also. If any of the readings are too high your tank is probably cycling (I'm guessing this is a new tank). The bacteria needed to breakdown the waste products are building up right now. You can add some Bio-Spira or Stability to help you get through the cycle and to help save other fish. Also, do a partial water change to lower the ammonia/nitrite levels. Make sure you're using a dechlorinator (I like Prime) and that the new water is about the same temperature as the tank water. I like power filters that hang on the back. They're easy to set up and use and do a good job. The penguin filters are really good as are the aqua-clear.

the best filter will be one with a biowheel. it helps convert ammonia and nitrites to nitrates. when you are starting a tank it helps to use chemicals to do the same thing. in a 10 gallon you should probably keep up the chemicals anyway because its really kind of small to establish a good biological system. stress zyme and cycle are both good for starting a tank. i like using melafix too. if you use melafix and a good bacteria weekly it helps with tank success a lot.

i would empty the tank and clean it up and start over. dead fish usually make for a lot of bacteria.

tanks require weekly maintenance -- i would gravel vacuum and change about 25% of the water in a 10 gallon weekly.

a 20-30 gallon filter would be better for your tank since it cleans better. and tank you have i recommend getting a filter that has a higher gallon capacity. guppies are feeder fish and arent supposed to live long. for a 10 gallon i recommend smaller fish like platys, mollies, bettas,& korydoras. bettas normally dont like other fish but in my experience they have liked the ones ive named.

I would suggest the best thing to do with the tank would be to put it away, and then spend some time with Google, looking up fishkeeping sites until you have the knowledge to successfully keep tropical fish.
