I have a bleeding heart tetra and i went on vacation for a few weeks, while a friend took care of my fish for me. When i got back, i noticed that the bleeding heart tetra had developed a black marking on its top fin. What's going on? I never had anything like this before.....its been more than 2 weeks, and the mark has still not gone away. Anyone?

Hey, ya'll, I think I'll clean the tank and see how its looking. (even though i cleaned it recently, the tank was looking a little dirtier when i got home) Also, I took the links one of you guys posted, and I have noticed that my fish bully each other. Well, I'll post the results in a few days.

Sounds like an ammonia burn to me. It will eventually go away. Your friend may not have known how to monitor your water quality properly. Does everything else seem okay with your tank?

Bleeding Harts, at a certain size can be sexed. Males have a hooked top fin with a spot on the tip, females lace the hook and are usually no as pretty.....go figure!

well maybe your fish died and your friend switched it with another fish. Ask him/her... tell the person about the mark
