We have 2 goldfish, 1 orange and 1 white. 20 gallon Eclipse Tank. They are about 2 yrs old and were doing fine until today. Today the white one turned red near the head (see photo) and acting very listless at the bottom of the tank. Ammonia levels are in the safe range. The orange one seems unaffected and is keeping the white one company, sometimes nibbling at the white one. The white one looks like he is about to die!

I have a 15 gal tropical tank. I setup the tank with 4 live plants and let the tank sit for 3 weeks with just the filter and light on. After the three weeks I tested the water. All levels were perfect. I then purchased 3 neon's and placed in tank with some stress out and some bacteria. Three days later I tested water, everything was perfect, So every other day I purchased 1 fish-total now 15 fish for 15 Gal. of water. Everything was fine, as far as test levels. It's been 2 weeks since having 15 fish in the tank. I now have high level of ammonia, I have added more bacteria, and kept up with water changes and vacuming the bottom, and still the ammonia has not even dropped a level, I now have put some ammo lock into the tank, HOW to get rid of Ammonia?

I have a tank the had 3 male guppies, 4 female guppies, 2 female mollies, and a pelco. Yesterday I lost 1 male guppy and 1 female. They show no outside signs of problems and they were just fine yesterday morning.
I changed 10% of the water last night and gave them a salt bath. Before doing that I tested the tank and my PH was 6.4. All the others were fine. What should the PH be in?

I have a male betta that is about 6 or 7 months old. He has grown about as big as he should. All of a sudden, over night, he developed this white lump under his stomach, slightly on his belly fin. I thought it may be ick, but when i added ick treatment, there was no difference. His jaw is also developing a fuz and is slightly swollen. He doesn't eat half as much as normal... Any suggestions?

I once had a fish (shumbunkin) and it was living in a 10-gal. with 2 other goldfish.(There were 2 ornaments with small holes in them) Well, I went to school one day and came back and the fish is dead due to it sticking its head in a hole of one of the ornaments. None of them had ever done that before, and the fish showed no signs of weird behavior. Though I now think the entire situation is hilarious, I want to know if fish actually have mental problems like that.

My goldfish is 3 years old and kind of stupid (like owner like pet ). Anywho, a few days ago, it had these red blotches all over its top fin, and now they're gone. I probabaly shouldn't be worried since it's gone, but I want to know what is wrong, can it happen again, and is it fatal?

I have a 10 gallon aguarium that was given to me, it came with a filter and the aquarium. No hood w/ light, no heater, no gravel, no plants, and no filter cartridages. Since I have to buy all these things seperatley should I just got to Wal Mart and get the whole kit with filter, tank, heater, food, hood w/ light. Would it be cheaper to do that or just buy everything seperatley?

specifically in replacing new water.

all i know is to pour some anti chlorine and methylene blue after changing a new fresh water.

is it ok to pour those chemicals while the fish is still there? some said you have to pull out the fish first before using those chemicals and put them back afterwards inside the aquarium after using those chemicals. for more or less 5-10 mins.how true is that?

my equipments are irrator and overhead circulating water filter w/ submersible pump.

i just recently purchased a betta for my dorm room and it's living very happily (it swims around like aquaman, makes bubble nests, stares at me while i'm working, and eats like a little piggy). a few days ago i heard it making a small popping noise over and over again until i went to investigate. as soon as it saw me come over, it stopped popping. is that his way of getting my attention because he's lonely or is he sick or does he want to mate? i have no idea what's causing him to pop =(

Two days ago, I added a single orange-glo tetra (I have others) to my established 10 gallon tank. My small glass fish is currenlty laying on the bottom of the tank and keeps swimming weakly around in circles and upside down. He even got stuck to the intake on my filter because he couldn't swim strong enough to get away from it.

Did a partial water change prior to adding the new guy and my levels are good although I haven't made it through a full cycle yet.

What is going on and what can I do for my little glass fish?

Hey everyone. Just got a lionfish on Friday, right after having my water checked. Shortly after introducing my new fish into the tank, I dropped in a whole silverside. The lionfish gulped it in whole. It wasn't a huge silverside, but he swallowed the whole thing nevertheless. Tried tossing in a small piece of silverside on Sat, but he didn't eat it. I noticed his abdomen was bulging, and figured he was probably still full, plus I knew the lionfish didn't need to be fed so frequently. Now it's Sunday night and I found the lionfish dead. I know the water if safe...so the only answer I can think of is that he was overfed from that one silverside. Is it possible? Has this happened to anyone else?

How should I go abouts seeding the new aquarium with the old one without disrupting my biological filter in the old 10 gallon? Also, how do i change my filter cartridge in my 10 gallon without removing all beneficial bacteria? Do I replace the sponge too?
