My friend gave me about 20 guppies two years ago and when I first got them they had new babies about every two weeks, but now since they about doubled in numbers they hardly ever have any more babies. Also I've noticed that sometimes they have babies with scoliosis well i just know that the spines are misshapen. Sometimes the spinal cords are twisted left to right, or sometimes up and down. I was wondering if this was a result from too much inbreeding and if so how can I preven them from inbreeding. I have two tanks. One twenty gallon with about fifteen fish in it, and one ten gallon with at least thirty fish in it. Also any ideas on how to breed them to get better colors?

so, my boufriend has this 30-45 gallon tank. there where 10 tetras, 4 smaller fish like tetras, 5 angels, 3 catfish, a rope goby, some corys and some placo. the tank sprung a leak and now there are the 10 tetras and about 5 inches of water in the whole tank. we moved all the other fish along with the filter and heater. when i turned on the light to the tank that has a leak, there seems to be tons of little live fish or some kind of mechanizm living in the water of the tank....they are not microscopic cause i can see them with my eye....could they be baby fish? now that the water is still they are noticable. what could they be?

I keep three of them in a 5 gallon tank in my dorm...i've had them since June...would adding three more keep them calmer or are they just more aggressive than your average tetra?

just brought the blue prints for a diy co2 system, as the shop systems are extremely expensive. With this way im sure to save a few quid and have healthy, strong plants but im not willing to risk my fishes lifes in the process.

so was just wondering if anyone have had any experience of these systems and wheather they should be used or avoided
thanks

I have kept tropical fish for a few years with no problems. All my fish were healthy until a few weeks ago i brought some new white gravel, which i rinsed well, although when i put water in my tank it did give the water a white tinge, which cleared in a few hours.I also brought a couple of new fish, from a pet shop i always use. my fish have all died gradually since, apart from 1 zebra danio. The dead fish all went a white colour, even my silver shark. (which was very big) I am gutted. was it the gravel? or maybe the new fish i got had a disease?

My husband took some moss off of a tree, and has put it in our fish tank. I'm worried that it's going to affect the water, and kill the fish. The last time he went to put this stuff in there, I told him to get it out, and let me look it up, and see if it's a good idea or bad idea, but I can't find any sites that comment on putting moss in a fish tank.

I need to ask. Ok, I got four goldfish yesterday. It's the only pet I can have right now. Anyway, I'm a little concerned because they refuse to swim around. They all just huddle in the same corner, and they won't eat. Can anyone give me any suggestions (real suggestions, no mean or smart butt comments)? Do they just have to get acclaimated to their new aquarium? Please help.
