my fish keeps getting things stuck to her bottox area. I dont know whether she is just sick. or if she is pregnant. could you please tell me what is up her my fish.

I just got a betta, and I have some questions:

1. What food do bettas normally eat? I bought it TetraMin, but is that the right thing? I fed it to my betta (named Bob) and he just spit it out. Is that the wrong food?

2. How often should I change the water? I have a fishbowl about the size of a small watermelon, with rainbow colored rocks on the bottom. It's been about a week. And HOW do I change the water?

3. Where is a good place to keep my fish? In my room? In the kitchen? In a sunny place? Where!?

I can also use the Galaxy 5 cartridge. Walmart used to carry these and I can not seem to find them anywhere. I have searched multiple websites.

my blue guarami killed the smaller guarami and then killed my beta. I though these fish werent suppose to be aggressive. He met his end at the hands of a hired gun. A oscar I borrowed to kill him.

I am really new to using acrylic glass but got a great deal on the material from a project that is being demo'ed the glass is 2 inches thick and am cutting it to 12 feet by 8 feet. the aquarium is going to be 12 feet long by 8 feet tall by 8 feet wide. Yes this requires a expansion on my house but its worth it. Comes out to a shade undert 5700 gallons. Any aquarium nuts hit me up with your opinion on this.

I have been doing this for 2 months and I was told to "spray" the bio-wheel, and filter cartrige, I use the hose at the sink to spray these clean. If I can't use tap water... then what am I going to use?? How am I going to clean them??

Too Help with the cycling process peoriod.
How much Gravel or sand is needed to start with ?
I have a friend that has a tank already,
Should I ask her for some of her water ?
There is one thing that scares me, With using her water, is she is losing a couple fish a week. her water looks very clear not foggy @ all. I told her to get a kit to check the water, but when she says she is going to get a kit, she comes home with no kit and new fish, I told her she can take her water in to be checked.she says, She don't want to told she is doing anything wrong. So,
I give up. but, I want to do it right the first time. How much time should I give it before adding Fish ? ECT... ECT... Should, I let it filter before put adding fish. I look @ it like this I have the rest of my life, To start this up. I only want two fish and real plants. I need to best advice, I can get to do this.
Any good websites to look @ for advice?

Help! I just saved 3 large goldfish from my work party. They're in a tiny bowl they can barely swim around in without hitting each other. I went to Petsmart and bought a 5.5 gal fish tank for them. I also bought some distilled water. How long do I need to let the tank run before I can put these poor fish into it? Any fish advise is would be very nice

I am a first grade teacher who bought a fish tank with guppies for our class pets. I've read an awful lot on guppies and feel that my pregnant female is ready to give birth. She has been hanging around the bottom of the tank and hiding from the other fish for 3-4 days. She is very big and has that boxy look to her abdomen. But, I've also noticed that today she has been releasing a thin white stringy substance from what I assume is her birth canal. The strand is very thin but about 3 inches long. Any idea what this is and if it's anything to worry about? Is this a normal sign of guppy birth?

now this fish is relly mad at me and when i went back in the room he had all the female fish in the corner and i couldnt hear what he was saying but i read his lips and he was saying to the female fish hey ***** you better have my money this bad fish is now pimping in my tank and hes still cursing at me he just swam by me and said hey ***** you trying to catch me riding dirty man i had enough of this gangsta fish from hell

I keep a number of live plants in my aquarium and although i am quite meticulous about keeping the tank clean, some of my plants (mainly the ones with large leaves) seem to have some sort of black film over them. Additionally, I keep some larger rocks in the aquarium and these too have this black coating/film on them. The castle I keep in there; however, has a green film and appears to be more like algae (which I might add I tend to have a battle on my hands in terms of trying to keep it under control). Is there anything I should be doing differently and/or is there any way to better control this black film and the algea (short of a tank full of plecos)? Looking forward to the responses :)
