You should not put household items into your fish, if you are unsure of the compostion. They may contain chemicals, toxins, glues, paint, rustable metals, etc. Better not to risk it.

You're best off going to a petstore and buying some decorations.

That's risky business there. You wanna make sure everything you put in a tank is known to be aquarium safe. Plastics can leak harmful chemicals, and cleaning them won't help. I'd say look for actual fish tank decorations, they probably make just about anything for any theme and you can probably find things like that online or at a petshop. It's better than risking the safety of your fish :) Good luck!

go to a pet store and buy some fish sanitizer and like put the items in a bowl of water with the solution. once you do that it should be able to be clean enough for fish to be near

you can use glass or you can use plastic perhaps...walmart makes cheap plastic stuff for that even goodwill will have cheap stuff.... make sure there is no dye in your stuff ...don't use die cast model cars!!!! the paint in those will kill the fish for sure....and i'm not even sure about rust....bad mistake!!! I'm into saltwater that is a much harder to maintain but for some reason red flags are like screaming NO!!! believe me....dont' do it

it is not a good idea to put toys in the tank but if you have to you need to boil the item for 10 minutes and let cool naturally to room temperature.
