Well I think BOTH are a good idea. Putting the female in the net breeder will let her give birth safely and help her feel less stressed since the male can't nip her. Other females will divert the males attention. I was told by a fish expert that 3 females to one male is a good ratio. Good luck!

Well, you definitely need to get more females. You can't keep your female in a breeding net all the time. Male mollies are amorous and you should always have 2-3 females per male.
You can put the female in a breeding net the day before she is due to have babies, if you want her to give birth in there. Personally, I don't recommend the breeding nets. It is a very stressful experience for the female to be netted and left in that small area for a day or more, especially if it takes longer than you expected for her to give birth. I suggest just catching the babies with a fish net after they are born. If you provide lots of plants, most of the babies should be able to hide and survive until you can catch them - and they are very easy to catch at that age.

You should do both, for a couple of reasons. Once the pregnant molly has babies, the male will eat them, so you'll want her in a net (but take her out when the babies are born, or she'll eat them, too). Secondly, you should get more females, because otherwise, he'll harass her to death.

The short answer to your question is yes. The longer answer is that you should separate your pregnant female to avoid harassment from the male and if you want the babies to live you should see to it that they cannot be eaten by either the male or the female after birth. The birth separators you mention are usually made of plastic. If they have openings they are either too small for the babies to fall through or the babies drop through the bottom into the main tank.. I think for you, if you have only one tank, the best is one that let the babies fall into the bottom but then keeps them separate from the fish big enough to eat them.

I'd keep the pregnant molly seperate, as long as you want the babies to survive.
