my blue guarami killed the smaller guarami and then killed my beta. I though these fish werent suppose to be aggressive. He met his end at the hands of a hired gun. A oscar I borrowed to kill him.

Actually, gouramis are known to be aggressive fish. Some are docile, but many are aggressive. And bettas should never be kept with them. Bettas are close couins to gouramis and are known to flare up and challenge gouramis, thinking they are bettas. I would be curious to know what size thank these 3 fish were in that they had no choice to retreat.

Be careful moving the Oscar around. Despite being big honkin' fish, they are surprisingly sensitive to water quality. Being taken out of one tank and dumped into another will not be good for him. If you want to feed the gourami to the Oscar, I suggest you put the gourami in the oscar tank; the oscar is also more likely to be confident and aggressive in his own territory, as opposed to an aggressive gourami's territory.

Do your research next time.

the larger guaramies can be agressive. I elarned this the hard way too. I had a gold one that was attacking my blue paradise. the trick is to get more than one..maybe up to three so they focus on each other more than the other fish. get schools of fish.

yea gorami and Betta's are in the same Labyrinth family and they don't exactly like each other . Opaline Gourami are aggressive but some of the dwarfs are considered semi aggressive/passive . But mixing Gourami and Betta one will die.

all the fish in the gourami family are aggressive... mostly to its kind. Betta belongs to this family as well.
