Nothing, really. All coldwater fish that could live in room temperature water (remember the temp in the tank is always like 10F lower than the air temperature) are goldfish, and goldfish are WAY too big for 1 gallon (the smallest goldfish - fancies - need 20 gallons).

Other small fish like tetras and guppies are schoolers. They are active swimmers and need considerable swimming room. And you need to keep them in groups of 5+.

Your best choice would be a betta fish. You *can* use a filter on a betta bowl. I recommend the AZOO Palm Filter. If you fill the tank up as much as possible, there is very little water movement. They are actually a very small hang off the back filter, max capacity is 5 gallons. However, bettas appreciate clean, warm watter, which is difficult to achieve in such a small tank. Even with a filter, daily water changes are recommended.

Frankly, I think you'd be better off spending 30$ and getting a 10 gallon tank with heater, filter, and lid.

Zebra Danios.

Cheap little fish (about 50 cents). Funny Story, and specifically to show how resilient they are:

My boss (I work at a fish store) put a zebra danio in the upper section of a toilet when he was about 14 years old. The toilet was in a cabin "up north," meaning the family left for the winter and the heat/water was turned off for the season.

2 years later, they were selling the place, and he was removing the toilet. He opened the toilet tank lid and there was the danio swimming happily. The fish had survived without being fed or having its water filtered--- just ate algae and other crap-- and had no light for two years.

How about some ghost shrimp. I have three in a tank that's a little over a gallon. No filter or heater, but I do a partial water change every four days. They are really cute and I wouldn't trade them for any fish.

The only thing I would even attempt to put in a tank that tiny is a betta.

Even then you're pushing it, and I wouldn'y use a filter, as they can stress bettas out.

They really shouldn't be kept in anything less than a 2.5 gallon tank.

You could always try and african aquatic frog.

there's no "reef secure" remedy that you could use on your significant tank which will kill ich. The remedies ought to really help slightly, yet interior the properly, your fish will nonetheless be contaminated. The parasite will nonetheless stay on your tank and on your fish to three degree till you enable your tank bypass fallow for some weeks. Freshwater dips are a good remedy, yet when ich remains residing on your tank it gained't help. warmth does not kill ich in any respect, it only hurries up its existence cycle. So if ich remains alive this is going to easily go with the help of its tiers faster and they are going to repeat faster. The "reef secure" remedies are literally not useful hostile to ich. that is in elementary words luck in the journey that your fish get more advantageous suited, yet more advantageous outbreaks will ensue later interior the destiny. the in elementary words elementary remedies that ought to somewhat kill ich must be performed in a clinical institution tank. you could both do a million) a blend of water adjustments and freshwater dips to thoroughly remove the parasite 2) Copper remedy 3) Formalin remedy 4) Hyposalinity

Unless it's a REALLY small fish (like a danio), I would only get 1. You could try the following:

male betta
1-2 danios (zebra danios are the hardiest)
white cloud
some of the hardier tetras (black skirt might work)
