sounds like popeye. to treat your tank water must be pristine at all times what are your water parameters? you need to go to a pet shop and get medication try one called melafix it works great for many diseases and infections including popeye just follow the instructions on the label

This is called popeye. It is caused by bacterial infection and stress.
What type of fish is it? You will need to get medication for fish from the local pet store, and make sure you're keeping the tank water nice and clean.

Popeye, a bacterial infection. Keep his water clean, and buy some dried banna leaves and drop them into his water to make the water color up like a tea color. Let him soak in it for about a week and it should go away. Im sure there's medicines at the petstore too for this, but natural always seems to work better.
