I have a 40 gallon tank that used to house 5 Bala sharks and we lost them after a move. :( we had them for about 3 years.
Which is easier to keep?
Which is more interesting to keep?
The Ph in my tank is pretty low....it's 6.4. Ive tried raising it but had no luck. I have white gravel in the bottom with a whisper power filter & also a big decorative piece in the middle of the tank that looks like a sunken roman collesium.

What is your experience with these fish??

I have a 40 gallon aquarium. I did have 5 Bala sharks that lived for about 3 years but now my tank is empty. They died when we moved. I couldnt get the water back right. It's different here than where we used to live. The Ph in the tank stays at about 6.4 - 6.6. Ive tried everything to get it up some but nothing worked.
Ive always thought that Oscar's were interesting characters. I would like to have 2 of them. Do they like plants, rocks, etc.....
thanks !!

But they havn't eaten a single one in over a week. Could something be wrong? What elses should I feed them? Please help Puffy and Blimpie!

I have 75 gallon tank. It had turtle in it about a year ago. Since I moved its been empty. I would like to fill it with zephyrhill's water because it keeps it cleaner. But It would cost to much to do. Would it be a good idea to put water in it with nutralizers and let it run for 2 weeks?

I just started a 55 gallon fresh water aquarium.

1. Heater
I have a 200W immersible heater, set to 76F. My room temp is 68F. My question is ... Does the heater need to remaiain
plugged in 24x7 with the thermostat regulating the heat or do I turn on the heater once in a while

2. Filter
Exact same question with filter. How often does it need to be turned on ?

3. Air Pump
Dont have one. Do I need one ? I expect to change 25% of water either when too cloudy or every 3-4 weeks

4. Fish Selection
I have a couple of semi aggressive fish (darn cant think of their names!) Can I put some mollies and goldfish
in there with them ?

Thanks

I was thinking of using fungus med From the brand Jungle. I put some Cycle product in the tank 3 days ago...and i was wondering if i should put the Fungus med right in the tank or should i do a full water change or a partial water change and then treat it with the medicine...

I just want to know if its safe to add the medicine in the same water with the Cycle product...

I have a male betta in a 3 gallon tank with a small rock hide out and one leafy fake plant. I was thinking of ditching the rock so I can vaccum his tank easier. I also read that betta prefer real/silk bushy plants. Do betta fish like hideaways?

Help please! My boyfriend has albino and tiger oscars, the tiger oscars have got huge and started to eat the albino oscars, I was told you were not supposed to mix the 2. is this the case? Also, the toger oscars seem to be changing from black with red colouring to going all over grey or grey patches. What is this? Another problem I have is that they keep trying to jump out of the tank and they r splashing water everywhere and keeping me up. What could be the cause? Help!

I have an aquarium that kept Oscar fishes together with other kinds of fishes. As the Oscar fishes gets older, they become wilder and start biting the other fishes including Hammer Head and Big Head fish and I have already lost a couple of the other fishes. I don't have anymore spaces to put a new aquarium to separate the fishes. What can I do? How to stop the Oscar fishes from biting other fishes? I do have a point outside the house, will the Oscar fishes survive if I put them outside?

I read alot of the post by the people here about fish and alot of ttimes when fishes die they tell them to check the water's parameters. What does it actally mean?? I know it has to do with pH. What do I need to get to check my water parameters??
I think I have some problem with my water since my gubbies are dying and are attacking each other. None of my other fish in the same tank are dying except the guppies. My shrimp and neon, barb aint dying but my guppies. Why? Is it cuz of my water aint balance? or what.
PS 4 of my guppies died. 3 female and 1 male. firs 2 females and 1 male died. (these 3 r from the same shop) then i got 2 more female guppies (thats b4 the male died) and now a bigger female guppies is attacking the smaller one so I separted them with a net breeder. Of coz I put the weak one in there then like 5 hr s later the attacker died. It didnt get bite by any fish but part of the body turned black. Is it cuz of posioning??

Is this normal? I have 3 fish and one pleco. They almost seem aggressive and when I first bought them they didn't act like carnivores. I feed them once a day, but they follow you around the room and jump their faces above the water like their starving or something. What could be causing this behavoir and what should I do about it?

2006-12-10 13:49:41 · 5 answers · asked by +daveL 2

The fish were exotic goldfish and a pleco. How can I find out what to do to keep new fish from dying if I restock the tank. The water looked clean and clear when they died and no outside poisons got into the tank.
