Fish - November 2006

Hi.

I bought a tank setup for my goldfish today and I also bought some other goldfish.

MY QUESTIONS:

1.) What should I name a calico shubunkin and an orange comet goldfish?

2.) Is it normal for a shubunkin to have a black eye? One of its eyes is completely black. The other one is normal. The shubunkin acts completely fine and is very frisky. The eye isn't bulging or anything... there's a black patch of skin by the eye that's black... is this normal?

My friend and I are arguing about Crowntail Betta Fish and the Beta Fish, please help:

Are they both fighting fish?
Will they fight each other if placed in the same tank?
Are they the same type of fish?

Here we go, I purchased a 29 gallon tank, set it up with black moors, and goldfish with the fantails......Also, purchased a algae eater & a mystery gold snail as well...Do I have too worry about my snail in any type of danger with the rest of his family members? I also purchased shrimp pellets for him, would that be correct ? How often should I changed the water in the tank? "freshwater tank" by the way. Will the algae eater / gold fish become agressive toward him....Since he's so helpless?

Ok so since having my 20 gallon tank i have had 5 goldfish die on me. I am getting very frustrated because I really want to have tropical fish someday but the people at the pet store told me i need to have gold fish first to get the bacteria going in the tank, well my goldfish can even survive. i found out I had a dangerous amount of ammonia in my tank, so i cleaned me tank completly again and added water de-chlorinater and also a bacteria supplement...should i buy some new gold fish again? The water has been filtering for around 4 days now

its got like black spots in its stomach and i ts getting really pregnet and its been this way for about 2 weeks ,when i got it .and if it is pegnet when should it have babys and what should i do with it and my birthbay is in 7 days and im getting a 10 galon fish tank should i make it into a breeding tank...that were my guppys are going.there in a community fish tank in a 20 gallon with 20 other fish.

I have a female chinese fighting fish and i see a white dot under her i'm pretty sure she is ready to mate but my males aren't making a bubble nest do i have to wait until the male is ready or the female or both? and what do i do? i've put the female in a 2 gallon tank with no filter should i put the male in with her or not? or the male in for a while then female?

Fast and cleanly.

Not to be cruel or anything, but mine has gone crazy, and he looks like he's gaurenteed not to live much longer. When he does start moving, he goes straight to the top and starts jumping up and down banging his head on the lid....Which /looks/ like it makes him lose conciuosness, cause he stops doing anything at all, just nosedives straight to the bottom.

End his misery....How can I kill him?

When I bought him last night, I had NO idea how agressive they were or how big they got. He's only about two and a half inches right now, but he kept snapping at my other fish, so I filled a freezer bag with a good bit of the tank water and put him in it temporarily to seperate him from the others. I read that you can feed them basically anything, but I'm not quite sure that's true...(I'd really rather not feed him feeders) I was going today to buy another fish tank, BUT.... should I buy a smaller one to put my mollies and guppies in (I have a ten gallon now) or should I buy a bigger one? if so what size?

PS. Nothing to do with the first question, but a month ago I had one big snail, now I have him PLUS about 10 other little ones... is there any humane way to get rid of them... perhaps oscar food? lol

These are tropical fish. The temperature is 28 degrees celsius. I clean my tank every 3 weeks and take out 1/4 of the water. I recently used this "No more algae" tablet and ever since then my fish have been dying one by one.

before i start serious answers please

i bort a white fish with really dark eyes (black/dark blue) im not sure of sex and breed.

it started out fine but then as the months past i noticed a black thing inside of him/her!

it seems to hav got larger as time has past what do you think it is, maybe sum king of infection

please help!

i hav a rectangular fish tank measuring 24 x 15 x 11 (l x h x w)

i currently hav no heater or filter or lights so i need to know what would be needed for the tropical fish that you recomend.

i think my tank is 14 or 15 uk gallons if that helps

all information and recomendations would be greatly appreciated!

My Glowlight Tetras are getting beautiful light bluish tips on their fins. The Pet Store woman said they were getting "breeding colors." Does that mean they will spawn in my tank? (assuming of course there are males and femail in the tank) And does that give me an indication of their age?

I had a dream that i built a 30 foot pond in my garden, then i filled it with water. I went to the shop and brought some big fish and then teturned to the pond. I placed the fish into the water then i went into the house. When i went back to see the fish they had gone except One Big Fish was swimming above me in the air? I wake up so what does this mean?.
