The 2 things that get most molly owners is nitrates, and water hardness.
1) Molly are more sensitive to th build up of nitrates in their water than most fish. So you need to do more regular water changes.

2)Molly are hard fish. Your water should have a kH/GH of at least 10 (7 ppm ~ 1 GH/kH). If your is really soft you shouldn't get molly, but fish like tetra, angels, and other soft water fish would thrive. If you're determined to keep molly adding salt will help as will increasing the hardness of your water. In tanks with nothing, but molly and other livebearers (guppy, platty, swordtails) you can add up to 1-2 teaspoons of salt per gallon. Just remember to add it slow, and realize that much will kill most fish and plants. (Molly however can live happily in salt water tank if the change is slow.)

Also I'd recommend a blanced diet that includes a lot of plant matter. I generally feed a mix of algae flakes and freeze dried blood worms.

Mollies like a moderately high pH (7.6), and they LOVE salt in their water. Add 1 to 1.5 TABLESPOONS of freshwater aquarium salt (no additives, like Doc Wellfish's Freshwater Aquarium Salt) per 5 gallons of water. If you have a naturally low pH (lower than 7), you can add some crushed coral to your aquarium or filter to buffer a higher pH, and then artificially raise the pH with pH raisers you can buy at the petstore.

Add one teaspoon aquarium salt to every five gallons of water and raise the temperature to 82 F degrees.
