Fast and cleanly.

Not to be cruel or anything, but mine has gone crazy, and he looks like he's gaurenteed not to live much longer. When he does start moving, he goes straight to the top and starts jumping up and down banging his head on the lid....Which /looks/ like it makes him lose conciuosness, cause he stops doing anything at all, just nosedives straight to the bottom.

End his misery....How can I kill him?

He's not sick. I'm a fish keeper, I know what sicknesses there are.

Looks like his only sickness is old age.

He's a few years old.

And yes, he is too big for the toilet.

Fish don't go crazy because they get old, they only go crazy when something is wrong with the water and they are trying to get away from it or they have some kind of parasite and are trying to scratch it off. Depending on what type of algae eater it is a few years old is still a baby so again it's not old age. Test your water to make sure you have zero ammonia and nitrites and that your nitrates are under 40, under 20 is better though. If you still want to kill it the only humane way is with clove oil. Here is a site that explains how to do it, http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-most-humane-way-to-euthanize-a-fish.htm

Flushing is one of the most inhumane ways to kill something. They don't die right away instead you torture them by putting them in water full of chlorine, they are then forced through the pipes and land in a septic tank full of your own crap and they slowly die by being poisoned.

Why don't you take him out and place it a another container of clean water. If he's sick you wouldn't want him to be in with your other fishes. If he's not sick, there is probably something wrong with your water.

You might want to also take a test pen to the water. If there is a power leak some fishes are more sensitive to it. And they tents to jump.

The is a kind of med from the vet or pet shop that can knock a fish unconscious or kill it. As for me I use to drop alot of ice into the container of water containing the sick/dying fish i want to kill. I was told the most humane way to the take it out and squash the head flat or just knock flat the brains but I don't have the heart to ever do that.

Dont kill it, take it to a pet shop they should take it off your hands and they may be able to give it medicine,(put it in the water) and maybe save its life.
