Yes as long as its very short term. Make sure the water is kept clean and dont overfeed while they are in there.
When you get the large tank you will need to cycle it. The site below is a really excellent fish info forum, for everyhing that swims!!!

Make sure the water temp is the same as where they are transferred from, and you follow the instructions from the pet shop about water quality/aging. There's no need to clean every day, just have a third of a gallon of water stand overnight, take a third from the tank and replace with the aged water. Try not to stir up the bottom - they'll be ok for a month. Do the water exchange weekly, not daily! Luck!

Sorry taylor 29 is right.. lid the tank

I would think it would be okay for a couple of days, but make sure you change the water every day, as goldfish are pretty dirty fish and create a lot of wastes, compared with some of the tropical fish.

it will be fine. i have a 40 gallon aquarium for my black moor goldfish! he's as big as my hand he's huge.i wan to add in some more goldfish but had to test out soume feeder fish to see if he would tear up their fines of be aggressive but he's a gently giant. i also have a dwarf african clawed frog on there with him too lollol they get bigh though!!! they will grow till the tank size. and if the tank is to small it will literally stunt thier growth in a way and decrese their lefe expectancy. ive had him for a year now. he was so small and now he's a monster!

They'll be fine for a day or two, just make sure the water doesn't come right to the top, or else they'll jump out.
