Hey,

I have a fish tank in my office, an Eclipse System 3, I set it up less than a week ago and the water is crystal clear... Perfect. I have a good ecosystem of life.... Male & Female Betta, 2 small bottom feeders, 2 amphebious frogs, 2 live plants and an undetermined number of snails that came in on the live plants.

The problem I have now is that the tank is starting to smell a little. I tried rinsing the filter out, but I am scared that the smell will not go away. I have had this tank less then a week and I am scare it will not go away and it will only get worse.

Anyone have any advice that I can try?

Its over a foot long, pink chest and black vertical body stripe, but has a small but not really significant lump on its head.
I used to haave it with a synspyllum cichlid which grew much faster and got the male head hump.

I went outside this morning and my koi is staying on the top of the water with his mouth sticking completly out of the water. He is starting to tip to the side and is obviously very sick. He is normally solid white but this morning he is pinkish around where his fins meet his body. I removed him from the pond to a sick tank but other than that I dont know what to do. Any suggestions?

I was talk ing to the manager of my local fish shop and he told me that it would be ok to keep discus in my community tank. My tank is big enough to keep these fish. All i can find on the internet about it is that they are delecate to water quality. So my question is will they be alright? will they kill all my other fish? or was he just trying to push for a sell? the fish shop had guppys in with some discus.

Hi, just set up a tropical fish tank and wish to use it for a wide range of community fish, I've tested the water but i'm not sure if the values are ok, the test kit came with no instructions, the values are:

No3: 100
No2: 5
GH: 10d
KH: 6d
PH: 8.4

Can anyone let me know if these are ok?

Thanks

My Betta fish randomly freaks out, like one minute he is perfectly fine and the next he is swimming around his bowl like a madman...is that "normal" Betta behavior or should i be worried that he is a psycho fish?

Anyone know of any sites that have on-line calculators to determine both liquid volume and weight when full for Aquariums?

i have red bellied piranhas and i wanted to put a small pack of exodon tetras in with them but most people said it was not a good idea....who are good tankmates, if any, for exodon tetras and do you have any good sites on them?????

ps. weird question but i recently bought a large container of freeze dried krill because my piranhas love the frozen ones but i ran out..the freeze dried ones float and my piranhas wont eat from the surface. i was just wondering if anyone has a good way to get them to sink (leaving them in the water doesnt help, they DONT sink lol)

Can guppies live communally in a small tank and can you safely put male and female guppies in the tank at the same time? Or will they fight and kill each other? And why do Walmarts guppies die so fast?
