Fish - October 2006

i recently put 2 comet goldfish on my 55 gallon tank together w/ my 5-6 inch Bala Shark, Catfish, 4 Black Skirt Tetras, Pleco, and Knife Fish.. At first the gold fish were happy, they're not getting eaten, in addition the water is somewhere 68-70 F. but when i bought some gouramis "pink & sunset" i tried putting the heater to 78 so my tank water would warmer. but after a goodnight sleep, i saw my other comet gold fish w/ white spot on its tail. i knew it was ick, so i got rid of both of them and put them on a big glass of water. Here's my concern, is my water contaminated now? should put ick remover or somekind? my other fishes are fine, jus the gold fish that had white spots, its only been this morning.
do you think the water temp. gave the gold fish the ick?

I'm trying to rear a few fish with 12 inch tank. Within a day 1 fish had died. For the sake of the remainder 5 fishes, I need some basic guidance in preparing the fish tank etc.

I have a 50 gallon tank with only 4 goldfish and six neons in it. For months they all lived together happily. Now the neons are attacking the goldfish, taking huge bites out of there sides that at first look like red welts then white bumps. I have actually witnessed the neons doing this to the poor gold fish.
What can I do to make them stop? Or where can I find more info about this?

My fish are breathing constantly. they were fine til I added a new filter and a couple of plants. I just put in the old filter along with the new one will this help fix my problem? If I need a Bigger tank how big should I Get?One fish is 6 inches,one is 4 inches, and the other 2 are 8 inches

i have a new catfish?
i bought a silver shark and a catfish , the one with white and black stripes but until i get home i realize that the catfish had red in his right side of the mouth like if some other fish bite him and close to the mustage had a little piece of skin that look like a mostage but i know that is skin becouse is white, what can i do, i have QUICK CURE, can that help, ? i have 15 days of waranty but i want to do something first, maybe is not a big deal but i don't know, or maybe could be sick

I have a blue male betta fish. His looks fat, he stays at the bottom of his bowl, and the bottom of him is red. I have one of those betta bowls, when I clean it sometimes I find gnats in it.

I have come to a conclusion, I cannot keep bettas. From this day on I shall no longer purchase these creatures for they have all ended up finding an early demise. No matter what condition I keep them in. My latest tradegy (RIP Phineas) was found in the filter of his 2.5g heated tank. Chem levels were all good. *sigh* Poor thing.

Has anyone else come to a type of conclusion like this? You just can't properly take care of... or whatever.
