Ok here is the deal ladies and gents. . .
I have a 2-3 y/o Lab/Retriever and she is pretty hell bent on being the worlds most picky eater. She will eat dry food until she gets bored but wont touch it after a few days. I tend to mix wet food, gravy train, rice, or what have you that might help.

Basically shes getting pretty spoiled with it all. I have even tried taking what she didnt eat away from her and hoping that she will get hungry enough where she wont be so picky. She's doesnt care, she would rather starve to death then eat! My main concern is this... What can I do that wont exactly spoil her but also wont put too much weight on her.

I rescued her from a shelter and have had her for a year now. Shes healthy, enjoys life and I want the best for her. She hit the 80 lb mark and gets her daily exercise. I fear or risking her for severe hip dysplasia when she gets older due to excess weight gain because of all that junk food.

What can I do ???

It doesn't look like blood. But it doesn't look like normal vomit either. It's a lot thicker than normal vomit. I need to know if I need to be concerned...

I took her to the vet before, but the next day there were no lumps. I took pictures this time & I want to see one on the "senior" vets this time. Not one just out of vet school. Any other suggestions or does anyone know what this could be?

I have a 4 month old puppy that I've had for a month. I'm trying to figure out the way to teach him that I'm the ALPHA. Can me and my husband both be the alpha or is he going to only listen to one of us? I've read so many conflicting things and I've tried a few things I've read but my puppy is either stubborn or I'm probably doing it wrong.

My dog is a biter sometimes, with males.I don't know why but I adopted him when he was 3.

My boyfriend and dog were laying side by side and when my boyfriend turned around in the direction of my dog to give him a belly rub.My male dog Suddenly bit him on the nose causing it to bleed a little. My boyfriend reacted by immediately slapping him(HARD).and chasing him in to his Room.and made him(my dog) stay there for 30min.
My dog does not seem mad or is trying to avoiding him, and they are hanging out in the same room together right now.
But Dogs can not speak.
Question......Should I report my boyfriend for abuse ?

She claims our dog was picked up by animal control, but he was not. I checked. She claims she rightfully adopted him when he was picked up. I have proof of ownership of the dog. Does he belong to her or us?

I'm trying to help find a home for him. I know if he is full bred, my mom would want him (she's that type of person). She already has 1 BC and a Rat Terrier, although she wants a basset hound. The woman that has him said the vet thought he was full bred.

Hubby, doggy, my baby and I just went for a walk outside. There were 2 small dogs following us no matter where we went. One stopped though.
They sniffed our legs and kept walking next to us.
I felt uncomfy cause you never know.. He could've been sick or whatever.
At some point he left us alone. I'm glad this was a small breed because last time a German Shepard did the same thing.

Grrr I hate when I can't see an owner and they're not on a leash.

Is there a high chance that my dog, after she is "knocked up" (as my dad says), she will get mean and vicous? My dad heard a story of a dog getting mated with and then getting mean and started biting people so now he belives it! I just want to prove him wrong, but I need true information, lol. Thank you!

Hi-
My dog doesn't have fleas, but it itchy and scratching herself raw. I wiped one spot off earlier because it was oozing. Nasty. She is licking and has patches of skin where the fur is gone. She was treated for hot spots this summer, but this has all happened in the past two or three days. Any ideas what it is? She is six and has never been like this before. I doubt it is allergies. We just moved... she used to have two dogs and a cat with her, now she is solo. Can this much scratching and licking be because she is bored or anxious about something? I've been giving her plenty of attention. She shouldn't be like this. I'm taking her to the vet, but I wanted to know what it might be first.

I thought I switched entirely to plastic ornaments this year, I was wrong. My lab knocked one off the tree with his happy tail, went to pick up the bulb, crushed it in his mouth....and there were shards of glass everywhere (including his poor bloody mouth.) Luckily, I didn't hesitate to get in touch with my vet....problem solved, he is okay now.

Those of us with dogs, no matter how well behaved they are, (and particularly those of us with puppies,) need to be watchful for things that can hurt them all the time...but especially this time of year when new things for the dog to investigate are out.

What have you done to make sure your dog(s) won't have any problems during this time of year?

What advice can you add that may help others reevaluate the safety of the dog's home?

We gave her to a family friend and she ran away..
she was lost in the desert for three weeks during a huge rainstorm.

A lady finally found her and called us.
But she is very sick.
She is vomiting, no more diahreeha.
She was ravenous for water but would throw it up immediately. She keeps it down if I give her small amounts at a time. which is what I've been giving her for the last 24 hours.

She is lethargic and won't even look at any food.
I'm sure she was an indiscriminant eater all those weeks...

I've started her on amoxicillin in case of bacterial infection.

If she did eat something bad- how long should it take for her to recover?

We don't have alot of money and can't afford a vet bill..
She's current on all her shots.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks....in advance.

He doesn't have accidents in the house (not since he was a small pup). The kennel has a plastic tray that I clean out, but I'm not sure if he still smells the pee and thinks its okay. I know dogs aren't supposed to want to pee in their kennel, so this is very strange. I have two older dogs who have never had this problem. He is a very well behaved boy, this is very unlike him. Ever since 6 months old he has been able to go an 8-hour shift without going outside without issue. I have tried letting himn out a lunch and now he will even pee after 3 hours. Please help!

I'm getting a male Great Dane next week that is a year and a half old. He is 140 LBS right now (I know he eats a gallon of Purina dog chow a day). I'm interested in hearing how much dog food, you Dane owners go through each month so I can plan ahead. Also, if you own a Dane and have any advice or tips, throw them at me.Thanks!
