We gave her to a family friend and she ran away..
she was lost in the desert for three weeks during a huge rainstorm.

A lady finally found her and called us.
But she is very sick.
She is vomiting, no more diahreeha.
She was ravenous for water but would throw it up immediately. She keeps it down if I give her small amounts at a time. which is what I've been giving her for the last 24 hours.

She is lethargic and won't even look at any food.
I'm sure she was an indiscriminant eater all those weeks...

I've started her on amoxicillin in case of bacterial infection.

If she did eat something bad- how long should it take for her to recover?

We don't have alot of money and can't afford a vet bill..
She's current on all her shots.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks....in advance.

Spoke with the Vet- she'r probably dehydrated and ate something that gave her a bacterial infection.

Vet says- continue with small amount of water and antibiotics.....call back in 24 hours.

One of our dogs disappeared for 4 weeks. When we found her, she had lost over 60% of her body weight, lost her vision in one eye, and most of her front teeth were knocked out. She was in very bad shape. My vet recommended very small meals (one tablespoon of rice/boiled chicken/cottage cheese) every 2 hours. Said that her digestive system was so strained that bigger meals could throw her into pancreatitis, and in her debilitated condition it would probably be fatal. We had to keep that up for the first 5 days, then slowly increase her meals as she grew stronger. I'd start back to refeeding your dog very slowly and very carefully. Good luck to you.

sports drinks that athletes drink will help rehydrate her and pepto bismal1 tsp per 20 lbs of her weight for the vomiting every 4 to 6 hrs.she most likely got heat stroke and lack of food and water besides trying to find u caused all the problems if she is feverish give her an asperin 1 per 40 lbs every 6 hrs.keep feeding her little bits of food until her shrunken stomach can handle a lot more.if she is no better in 18 hrs u should really call a vet for advice. hope she gets well good luck

I'm glad the dog made it home, but you really have to find a way to get it to the vet. She is probably dehydrated and from the sounds of it, every minute online is a minute wasted.

See if your vet will let you make payments, or work out some other arrangement, but your dog needs to be seen by a professional.

G'luck

Take her to the vet -- put it on a credit card, set up a payment plan, apply for Care Credit. The possibilities are endless, and your dog need medical attention.

Whether you have the money or not, that dog needs to see a vet. Set up a payment plan with them. That dog is in dire need of help. Don't allow your dog to suffer. She is your responsibility.

The dog loves you.You gave her away and she tried to find her way back to you.You say you don't have a lot of money, but you must have some.Use it for the dog,she almost lost her life trying to get back to you.Sell something if you have to,but get her to a vet. There's no telling what is wrong with her.
