My aunt (she is a dog breeder) told me to put meat tenderizer in my dogs food for a couple days, it gives them what mineral/nutrient that they are lacking - instead of getting it from cat poo. It works too. Cheaper than changing the dogs food to an upscale $30 a bag.

I've been told it's because of undigested proteins in the poop. I once knew a guy who had a sanctuary for big cats - tigers, leopards, and some pretty exotic rare breeds like caracals. He said his dogs would go absolutely wild over tiger poop, since he fed them raw meat and there was always some residue in the poop.

To them, it tastes like food. Their sense of taste is very weak, unlike ours. He just thinks he's getting something over on the cat by eating its food. Little does he know, it's feces. Try getting one of those litter boxes with a lid and put something in front of it so that the dog can't get to it but the cat can.

I call the cat poop out of the litterbox "kitty krunchies". My Aussie loves kitty krunchies too. Who know why...
