It doesn't look like blood. But it doesn't look like normal vomit either. It's a lot thicker than normal vomit. I need to know if I need to be concerned...

My dog is 15 years old. Although she is old, the vet has said that other than arthritis she's very healthy.

Put some in a baggie and take it to the Vet... It could be vomit or it could be something being expelled from the lungs...

You didn't mention if the dog is otherwise healthy and just had this one vomiting issue. If that is the case, I would suspect he ate something bad, half-digested it and then threw it up. If he is acting ill, or has other symptoms, he may have other problems that require a vet's care. Give it a day and see if he is better, if not, then take him in.

If he pukes for greater than an hour or two, and more than four or 5 occasions, take him to a vet. He could have swallowed a toy which is now lodged someplace, gotten into poison, and so on. There are lots of, many things that might be wrong. If there is purple like blood, take him right away!

Doesn't sound normal. I would definitely seek the advice of a vet.

Might be something serious, might be that she got into something she shouldn't have... You need to decide how serious it is and decide if she should see a vet. Not taking her to the vet if she does need one is abuse and neglect.

For me, if I didn't know what it was, it would mean a trip to the vet.

hope he doesn't have heartworms....this is what happened to ours....VERY slimy....hard to clean up. That will probably be the first thing that the vet will want to check.
