I have been feeding my puppies water soaked dry dog food mixed with canned but now they need to start eating it dry to keep teeth in good shape. But all they do is eat the canned food and leave all the dry. I am worried they are not eating enough now but still they cannot eat their dry food soaked in water all the time! Help!

Our puppy is sick and won't drink water. We have a vet appointment for her today but we want to make sure she stays hydrated. We added a little apple juice to it and she drank a little but won't touch it again.

Any tips on how to get her to drink her water?

Yesterday my dog threw up in the backyard. Then she wouldn't move from where she was laying down. She's 11 and 1/2 yrs old, and so we brought her inside so she would be warm. Is she gona die or should we take her 2 the vet?

Our 11-year-old Australian Shepherd recently developed a one-to-two centimeter tumor on her left lower gum. It was wrapped around a tooth...The vet surgeon removed the tumor and the tooth, but biopsy results will take a week or more to get back, and the tumor might spread. Is there a legitimate dietary supplement that could help improve her immune system, so that she can fight further problems with invasive tumors?

Please pray for our sweet dog. Thank you so much.

I mean, honestly, if I were to choose between the love of my life or a dog I would pick the dog.

They are sweet, they always find it in their hearts to forgive, they are smart, they make a better friend then any human ever has, they are loyal, they are always wanting to please you, etc. etc.

And yet they die 60 years before their owners. Some even earlier. There are thousands of dogs killed everyday in shelters.

I honestly think that it should be the other way around. Dogs deserve to live more then ANY human in the world. Including me.

Who agrees? Disagrees? Why?

I am keeping a friend's approx 1 yr old toy poodle until she gets spayed - approx 3 week stay. She has been confused on potty training. I thought I could maybe help cement her training while she's here and here is what I am doing. Have her wear a doggie diaper in the house. She seems to need to go every hour, so every hour I also put all the dogs outside and say go potty. She seems to know what this means but will also go in the house if you do not get her out. Does this mean she is potty trained? How does one get them to let you know when they need to go? My two dogs are potty trained but we never taught them to ask. We just put them out often and when they start barking and wanting to go out -often they just want to go out to bark, so we can't tell when or if they need to go.

My husband is a doctor in the military, we are in a foreign country, yesterday my husband was walking out the door and the dog ran out and ran down the street a few times, and he was just playing. My husband brought the dog in and asked me to shut the mini-blinds. He started beating the dog with a belt and then the dog ran beside me trying to hide and I am so scared of my hubby that I didnt really protect the dog even though I held him close to me but the look in hubby eyes told me to let go; so I let go. The dog ran upstairs and hid beside the bed my hubby went and beat him some more for going upstairs since he is forbidden to go up there, then the dog ran in the kitchen and peed himself from being so scared and hubby ran in there and beat him some more. He always beats the poor dog, I feel so bad, i feel like I shoud step in and help but im terrified!!! in this country dogs arent important so theres no one to tell, what should I do with the dogs situation, poor dog:(

ok I have a 7 week puppy who was neglected I took him in and got him to the vet. He has mange and it is the one that is contagious to humans. Also because of the mange he scratches and has sores all over him. He crys but I understand that he hurts. I have him in this room, and how our apartment is set up is there is a big open window inthe wall it is between the study room and living room so I can see him and hear him and so can he. Anyway I feel that even though Im giving him medicine I need to love on him but he is full of sores and contagious Im scared to pet him till this clears up. I have a big comforter that I fluff up and lay him in and I gave him a stuffed bear that he loves he always has it by him its adorable but I wish I could do more is there anything else I culd do to make him feel loved because he will fry but I don't want to pick him up yet? I will when all the mange is gone because I love dogs and he will be a indoor pet. I pick him up with a towel and cradle him.

i've owned my dog for 14 years. i now realize how fast those 14 years went by and how much i took them for granted. for many months i've seen no life in her eyes, only pain. she'd seldom wag her tail or follow me like she used to. today she's told me it's time and i think she knows. she's been looking at me with sadness and i feel extremely guilty. does she know she's going to die tomorrow?
i know i'm going to be sending her to a better place where she will be young and carefree, and i'm happy. but i've had multiple breakdowns throughout the day today. i can't focus on my major final projects and tests this tuesday and friday.

i dread that drive to the vet tomorrow. she hates the vet. our vet costs way too much to do a house call. how can i keep her calm? how do i deal?

Don't people know how dangerous it is to own those dogs? They're more bloodthirsty, and vicious then pitbulls! I don't know why anyone would want to own one of those terrible dogs, they should ban the breed in every state. Why is it still legal to own them, let alone BREED them?? It is down right irresponsable to be breeding such a dangerous dog!

I am involved w/a rare breed club who has an outspoken, deep voiced, opinionated, know it all gal on board who talks down to the lowly members about how bad AKC recognition is. I (and others who have been involved in AKC for over 15 yrs) do not think so but the general membership is a motly batch of pipsqueak novices who agree with every opinion this gal dishes out, even if it is bulloney. Help, oh, Yahoo Answer community!

If anyone is planning to get a dog in the (near) future and considering purchasing from a pet store, please read this. Then answer my question: After reading the article, are you still going to support puppymills by purchasing from a pet shop? Or will you adopt or find a reputable breeder?

Even if you're not planning on getting a dog soon, read it anyway. It's very informative.

My lovely female pap recently died from a collapsed trachea. In one week she went from an active healthy dog to death. No-one can tell me how this happened. She had no trauma, accident etc and her heart and lungs were good. They couldn't do anything here in NZ as the tubes have to come from USA and she couldn't last that long.
