Yup continue.. Fleas can hybernate for a looooong time, and come back to life miraculously. They can hide under baseboards in carpets, seams etc.

Personally, there is what is called "flea or tick" season, due to the warmer weather they seem to become heavier. My suggestion would be, if I were you, continue it, but maybe cut back to not quite so often, like add a week or two extra before applying. It depends, also, what you are using. Most treatments out there now get absorbed by the skin, and you want to keep it built up on your pet to work. Also, there maybe some larvae in your house waiting to hatch, or possibly adult fleas or ticks, and with you heating the house, this could make them more active and create problem if you stop treating.

They don't hibernate - hibernation is sleeping throughout the cold months, it's something some mammals do.
Fleas die if outside under certain temperatures, but their eggs can survive which is how they come back in the warmer weather. In the modern day it is necessary to flea treat dogs and cats through the winter, if not as often as you do during the summer - fleas can survive quite happily overwintering in your home under your lovely central heating where it isn't winter at all to them.

I was told by an exterminator that fleas can lay dormant for six months and hatch, starting a whole new cycle. Like under the house, in floorboards etc.

maximum places that are customary for reliable flea issues are warmer, extra tropical climates. meaning warmer, extra ordinary winters. I stay in Colorado. we've chilly winters and dry summers. We even have not got a super flea concern. in actuality, maximum fleas interior the states are truthfully added in from out of state campers. with the aid of this, I on no account manage, and definetly does not interior the wintry climate. in the experience that your area has fleas interior the summertime, it possibly has fleas interior the wintry climate.

I believe James's answer is correct, the flea dies but the eggs wait until it gets warmer then hatch.

i think that it is true that the ticks hybernate... during the summer time my dogs get ticks and then when it is winter, going the same route, my dogs don't get ticks. i didn't think bugs hybernated but nobody knows everything!

Once the weather stays under 50 degress all day, they go into hibernation. However, your home is over 50, so you need to treat your home and pet until you notice they are gone for the winter. Soon as it is warm, they reappear.

YES KEEP THE FLEE MED ON HIM AT ALL TIMES, IT NEVER GETS COLD ENOUGH FOR THEM TO COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR. THEY WILL MULTIPLY, HOWEVER YOU DON'T NEED IT EVERY MONTH JUST ONCE FOR 3 MONTHS WILL DO. BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT TICKS WICH NEED MORE MED THEN FLEES.
