I mean, honestly, if I were to choose between the love of my life or a dog I would pick the dog.
They are sweet, they always find it in their hearts to forgive, they are smart, they make a better friend then any human ever has, they are loyal, they are always wanting to please you, etc. etc.
And yet they die 60 years before their owners. Some even earlier. There are thousands of dogs killed everyday in shelters.
I honestly think that it should be the other way around. Dogs deserve to live more then ANY human in the world. Including me.
Who agrees? Disagrees? Why?

I do to think that it is completely unfair that dogs have such a relatively short life when compared to us humans. There are more that several dogs that I have lost in the past that I wish had lived much longer - but only if they were not in any sort of pain.
I am a member of an organization in my hometown who's main goal is to raise money to do nothing but to spay and neuter kittens, cats, puppies and dogs. We are trying to help People who cannot afford to get their animal(s) fixed any other way to contact us so that we might possible be able to help with the expenses.

you will locate that obtaining a 2nd canine will provide your previous canine a sparkling hire of life. He might get slightly fed-up with being pulled around via the hot canine yet, while he's had adequate, he will enable the hot canine be attentive to, which will additionally instruct your new canine the thank you to act. I even have had six canine interior the final thirty years, continuously with 2 canine at a time, an previous canine and a youthful canine. this is plenty extra effective for canine to be around their very own variety and while the time ultimately comes, and that i desire it heavily isn't any time quickly, once you ultimately could say so long on your previous buddy, you will locate that having yet another canine is a super convenience. My 2nd and third canine have been Lab/Collie crosses and the introduction of a youthful, lady, golden retriever re-vitalized the canine we concept we've been approximately to lose. He went directly to attain the ripe previous age of fifteen. EDIT following added information: Take your canine to fulfill your new canine, which I presume is going to be a rescue animal, on impartial territory. Any respected canine's living house or animal sanctuary might have a secure area the place the two animals could be precise presented below supervision. even in the experience that your canine is definitely socialised, the rescue canine might have themes with different canine, noticeably if it fairly is been on the streets for a while. If the two canine shows any aggression, evaluate attempting a distinctive animal. From very own journey, i might additionally heavily supervise your canine the 1st few circumstances you feed them collectively. Any interest that would desire to hold approximately opposition (new toys, interest from relatives) could be performed with sensitivity and an company attitude from you to provide up the placement from deteriorating right into a scrap.

I think it is really unfair they live such short lives. I also think it unfair that big breeds live for shorter then small ones, since I like big dogs better. I also think it unfair that my Cats lived so much longer then my first dog did, I have cats who have lived past 20y and none died before 18y. When my dog died it just didn't seem long enough, she was only 11 :( I kept thinking "if she was born a cat, I'd still have her". It is the only reason I took so long to get another dog after she died, because I wasn't sure I ever wanted to say good bye again so early.

Well in a way. But if dogs lived to be 60.. You would have to decide at a certain age that you couldn't get another dog.. Say by the time you are 20 you would have to say.. No more dogs, cause they are going to start to out live me, and then who will take care of them.
But I agree that dogs are more deserving of life than most people are.

You're right. It's a shame that they don't live longer. Every time I've had a dog die in my family, I felt very miserable afterwards. The least you can do is take the best care of your dog and keep them for 12-15 years. =]
