My nine week old male chihuahua has been his normal self. i just got him last week and he seems 2 be doing fine other than he has 4 bald spots. 2 on hi thiegh (honches), one just above his nose and one on the back of his ear right by his scull. im really worried and i dont know if i should take him 2 the vet. i dont have very much money right now so i prefer not but do you know what this is? he has also been sitting on the ground with his back legs out infront of him and pulling him self. i thought it was ring worm at first but he has been dewormed twice and i have been checking his poo and there is no worms. thanks!!

my dog seems to sense when when husband is about to pull into the driveway long before he even does. Do dogs have ESP? or do they have really good hearing?

okay. so basically i have narrowed it down to three kind of dogs i am intrested in, a Doberman, a collie, or a weimaraner/
i already have one dog, and i will be getting a puppy, and i will have alot of time to devote to exersisng the dog, cuz i'm home all day and we have a huge backyard and i love to run. but i can't decide between those three. so can everyone please give there opinions on what time of dog they think i should get?!?

Last night I came home and I found that my terrier mix 3 year old had thrown up her food, a large amount of partly digested dog food smelling paste. I found her water dish empty and imediately after filling it she slopped a ton up, I had to make her take breaks in drinking to make her slow down. The I took her out and she had a tiny amount of poop and a long pee. She is lethargic and only got mildly excited about a treat I got out. The only things I can think she may have eaten is horse hoof shavings (from barn) and maybe some hairspray was used in the area around her food dish. She hasn't thrown up since and she's just sleeping alot now, should I wait to see if she improves or call a vet?

Senior in high school here, I'm always switching my major. I'm an animal person, so for about 2 years I was strongly going to be a vet, but, I'd love to have kids, so I changed to Architectural Interior Design, because they work from home a lot, drawing out homes and stuff, sounds fun.

I'd love to work with animals in some way, though.

Can you be a vet, and still manage to raise a family? I don't want to be a mom later in life that doesn't have anything to do with family, and is always on call - and stuff like that.

What do you think I should do?

Any good paying careers working with animals?

Im looking to get a blue merle border collie.I have wanted one for abot a year now. And my parents said we could get one in maybe about six months. I was wondering if they are good with dogs, because i have a three other dogs ( a papillion chihuahua and dappled daschund) And i was also wondering how much excercise it needs, and activities you do with your border collie to make sure it gets enough excercise.
Thank you!

My dog keeps scratching her ears. After a week I finally looked in there and one of them has black/brown colored "goop" in it. We took a Qtip and put alcohol on there to clean it out. We couldnt get it all. Does anyone know what she might have? Also, is there something at the pet store we could get. Trying to avoid a Vet bill unless she needs Rx's. Thanks for any help.

It's me again. When I get up at night to let him pee/poop he is ready to play after. So I play w/ him for about 30-45min so he gets sleepy and then I'll put him back in his crate. Is this ok? Or should I be putting him back in immediately after? I would like him to go in after so I can go back to sleep, but he is all charged up from his 3hr nap and ready to play.

How is that cruel and un-natural?????????????

My dog was recently put on Cephalexin and Temeril -P for an ear and skin infection and ever since then he's been urinating ALOT. The last couple mornings I've woken up to more than one puddle of pee on the floor. My dog Dante has been house trained for years and never normally has accidents in the house, also a couple times during the day he hasn't even made it to the door to let me know that he has to go out, and just pee'd right in from of me. This is very very unusual for him and I was just wondering if it's a sign of any problem he may be having with the medication.
I would ask the vet but they are closed on Sunday's.

Thanks!

I just read a posting on a different question where some girl stated, "people shouldn't fix their pure bred dogs, they are meant for breeding, other wise I wouldn't have mine".. How low is that!.. people who think that way should NEVER even own a dog! my pure bred pom is fixed, and I wouldn't have her any other way. If you don't care about your dog, or their health then maybe you should just stick to stuffed animals, and dolls. What is wrong with some of you people? I don't get it. What makes you think just because you have a pure bred dog means the only reason you have it is for breeding?

I got her pedigree today and I just wanted to know if this means she is inbred and if so should i expect more health problems. She is a dalmatian. Her fathers dad is also her mothers grandfather on both sides but she has different grandmothers.

My Yorkshire terrier is 5 years old and he weighs about 5.5lbs. I haven't neutered him yet with the hopes of breeding him because his father was a champion Yorkie and my dog is gorgeous! The problem is that a family friend of ours, wants t breed their female Yorkie with ours, and she's 3 years old, but she is much bigger than him. She weighs about 10lbs and I'm scared that he will get hurt in the process because he is very gentle.

Please give me some advice and websites that will help me learn how to breed these dogs in the most healthy and successfully way. I wouldn't want these dog to get hurt, especially mine, since it is so small in comparison.

Neither of us is interested in the money from selling them! We doubt that if we breed them, they will have more than 2 puppies and we each want one. The reason why I want to breed my dog is because I think we should have already neutered him and we haven't yet and he is very pretty. We don't want to let his genes go to waste in a way!

I know this question has been almost beaten to death, but I was wondering what I would need to build a dog house similar to the one here:

http://www.pets-haven.com/dog_and_cat_house.htm

I am not experienced enough to know what I need, heck, I'm not even going to build the dog house myself. So I was hoping one of you would have an idea of what I need for this house or a similar one with the same floor plan idea.

Thanks

If a novice breeder has done their homework and is well educated, why are they considered a back yard breeder?

Don't all good breeders have to start somewhere?

I do not breed and never plan to breed, but I was just wondering....

I am an animal advocate, and believe in animal rights, and serve my time to help the abused animals.........

Is anyone else annoyed that people are cross breeding dogs and giving them cute little made up names and selling them for hundreds of dollars when the same dog can be rescued from the pound or resuce groups? It makes me mad that people are intentionally breeding these "designer" dogs when so many die in shelters every day.

We adopted a border collie from a shelter and she only has a little nub of a tail. We have no history on her to know if it was bobbed, and no experience with them--she's our first. Are they normally born with or without tails? It doesn't matter, she's adorably cute as is, I'm just curious as to whether any breed is born that way. Thank you.
