Im looking to get a blue merle border collie.I have wanted one for abot a year now. And my parents said we could get one in maybe about six months. I was wondering if they are good with dogs, because i have a three other dogs ( a papillion chihuahua and dappled daschund) And i was also wondering how much excercise it needs, and activities you do with your border collie to make sure it gets enough excercise.
Thank you!

There is a park about 20 steps away from my house and i'll be willing to take him or her to the park for about two hours a day after school.
And my mom goes on mile long walks in the morning so she would take it then too.

Yes, i plan on having it play frisbee right away, will that be enough? Going to the park and throwing it for a hour or two, and about two mile walks in the morning?

In the right hands the border collie is the best family dog in the world.
Be prepared to give the dog alot of mental as well as physical excersise.
They will excell in any sport as long as you give the time to train them, which is really easy to do but they will always be one step ahead of you so training will have to be continued through out there lifes not just sit & stay!
If introduced to other animals when there young enough they will be fine.

Good luck & great breed:)

Border collies need a large yard (or a ranch), as they need a tremendous amount of exercise and a "job" because their active minds need to be challenged in order for them to be happy.
Border collies are considered to be the most intelligent of all dogs and do not deserve to have their mind wasted.
If the dog is not on a working ranch, it can be happy doing agility training and competing. If other circumstances don't allow for working the dog at least 5 days a week, the dog will be incredibly miserable.
Please don't get a border collie just because they're pretty. You need to be willing to let it run and to stimulate its mind.
Go to akc.org to determine which breed is best for your circumstances.

they get along great with dogs but they need a ton of attention and exercise they are not good to go to a pet home as yours like many. they need a job or it will end up in the shelter like many others because you went crazy. don't take me wrong i love them i have 10 that i adopted from rescue ( all fixed) and they need ton of exersic so i do agility without it they would be bouncing off the wall like all border collie that are crated more than 3 hours a day. here is a video of a border collie doing agility http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdcDugi1Z4c
and another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pja5Vljojak the border collies you saw in the videos took two years of training+ to get to that level and be that well behaveid. don't get a dog bbecause it is pretty get it because you know you can take care of it.

and then a website that can help you out http://www.lockeyebc.com/puppies.html

if you get a dog be sure to get it in a gility her is what agility is all about and the dog will love it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQNl1irWGJY
