It's me again. When I get up at night to let him pee/poop he is ready to play after. So I play w/ him for about 30-45min so he gets sleepy and then I'll put him back in his crate. Is this ok? Or should I be putting him back in immediately after? I would like him to go in after so I can go back to sleep, but he is all charged up from his 3hr nap and ready to play.

Sure its ok. If you want play sessions in the middle of the night for the rest of his life.

Night time outings should be done quietly, still praise and treat, but in a quieter manner, avoid turning on to many lights. Put him back to bed right away.

It'll a couple days but he'll get used to having to go back to bed after going potty at night. Remember that night time outings won't last forever either, just until he gains better bladder control.

1. Yes he should play.
2. He shouldn't be locked in his crate all night! He must learn to be responsible and act normally without being confined.

You should take a puppy out after he has been eating, playing or sleeping. If he plays, then he should be taken out again.
