Ringworm is not actually a worm. It is a fungal infection. It is not caused from the dog having worms it's caused from a fungus so it is possible that your dog has ringworm. ESPECIALLY if these patches of missing fur are circular. (thought they don't have to be) or if they have a white pounder area that kinda looks like skin flaking off. I don't really know of any at home treatments for ringworm that is safe for dogs. You can use a shampoo called MALESAB however you can usually only purchase this at a vet. You can also call your vet and ask about a program called care credit. It's not you making payments to the vet. It's more like a credit card that pays your vet bill then you make payments to them. The interest late is LOW. Hope this helps.

Well the scooting could be that his butt itches. He's doing the best he can to scratch it. Analyze what he is eating and be sure he is not getting something too rich or spicy.

The bald spots could be an allergy (possibly to grass or his food) could be a skin mite. could be lack of nutrition. A friend of mine had a 5 year old chihuahua that had never had teeth and hair. We started him a a nutritional supplement and within a couple months he hair grew and he teeth soon followed: JP+ for dogs.http://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/pages/Home.soa?site=Lb53116

so nutrition is very important.

It might just be nervous.
In our class, my teacher got a new rabbit and put it in the room. It was in ther for about two weeks and started getting bald spots. When she took it back home, the hair on the bald spot grew back!!!
It was just nervous from all of the attention she was getting. THat might be the problem with your dog.

I would take your chi to the vet. It may have some sort of skin condition that is making it very uncomfortable, causing your dog to scratch uncontrollably. Flea-bite dermatitis is a common diagnosis for this. "Butt scooting" can be a symptom of your dog's anal glands needing to be expressed. A vet or a good groomer can provide this very important service for you. Good luck with your chi.

Call your breeder and tell them what is going on asap. They should have given you some kind of health guarantee on your puppy for genetic problem and contagious illnesses.

you need to take him to the vet. Money should not be a concrn if you really want to take care of your pet...otherwise you should not be a pet owner. it could have a bad disease that needs to be taken care of.
