Mutts are very loving, have longer life span, energetic, cute, and if you're lucky, it might be a throwback! =)
The AKC does not recognize mutts but you can register it in dog shows. The only thing is that mutts don't always win.
I think Akitalabs are good mutts. Very good indeed.

Basically, the good and bad things about having any dog. However, what the behavioral and temperament issues might be are more of a crap shoot, since you don't always know anything about the parentage of the dogs.
Contrary to what a lot of people believe, I don't think there's any real evidence that mutts live longer, are less prone to health problems, train easier or anything else compared to purebreds. There are a lot of people who track the problems in a given breed, nobody does that for mixed breeds, so there's no systematic data to go on. A badly bred dog is a badly bred dog, regardless. The worst dog I ever owned was a pound mutt.
The cost to get a mutt will be less than a purebred, however, the acquisition costs are relatively minor compared to what maintenance costs will run over the dog's life span, considering food, veterinary care and all the other ways dogs can cost money.
It comes down to what you want in a dog, then being able to use those criteria to find the right one.
Edit: An Akita x Lab mix could be an interesting dog.

I had a pure bred German Shephards with excellent blood lines, his father was a rescue dog and was extremely intelligent. At the age of 6 he had to be put down because he had liver cancer and the prognosis was not good. Chemo would have prolonged three months, seeing dogs with open blisters and hair falling out I made the humane choice to have him put down.
I have a Scnoodle now, he's five months old. He was sort of a rescue dog, he was in some bad conditons and I had to save him. The bad part is, I know what kind of dogs his parents were and what their names are but nothing else. Im not even sure if he is inbred or if there are any problems with his parents. My Schnoodle was very shy at first but opened up when he realized I wasn't taking him back to where he came from. He's got an amazing temperment.
Pro's of a mutt?
-live longer than pure bred
-have less likeliness for disease.
Con's?
-No floofy AKC paperwork

Nice mutt you've got there. The good thing about having a mutt, is it won't have as much health problems as a purebred will have! I personally, prefer mutts. You won't know what to expect and then all the dogs will be different! And you can't register a mixed breed with the AKC.

No, you can't register a mixed breed with the AKC. Mixed breeding breeds genetic problems which the AKC does not support and will therefore not register the dog. Mutts are essentially the same as any other dog but with questionable drives. You never know which energy level they will be. As for the cons, genetic problems are the only major cons. Things such as hip dysplasia, ellis disease, weak ligaments, cataracts, lock jaw, seizures, ect are common problems that stem from mixing genetic material from breed to breed. Purebreds have been bred for health and typically don't have as many of these problems.

You need to give more information, as to what kind of cross bred, and also, what type of good or bad things are you asking about. If you had a Doberman crossed with a pitbull, or had a yorkie crossed with a beagle, the answers would be totally opposite from each other, I would hope. Would like to add, however, my "Mutts", such as hound crossed with????, or a shepard cross with a beagle, I've owned, were extremely loyal and excellent pets.If this is the kind you're talking about, also, normally great with kids.

The good thing about mutts is they are the most loyal dogs, bar none. They also tend to have less health problems of pure breeds that are caused by generations of inbreeding. Also Mutts are cheaper. They are easier to train. The only down side is that they never win anything at dog shows. So what!!!!
