I'm in the process of adopting a 4 month old golden retriever / lab mix from the humane society. She seems to be in great health. One thing that concerns me though is that her tail seems shorter than I would expect for her age and breed. The tip of her tail doesn't quite come down to her knees when she's relaxed. The tip of her tail feels like it's bent at an extreme angle. I'm more familiar with labs than I am with golden retrievers, so I'm not sure if this is normal or if maybe the tip of her tail somehow got broken and it's stunting growth. I plan on asking the shelter about it (as well as my vet), but I'm concerned NOW and am wondering if anyone might know something that can put my mind at ease. Thanks!

We make resolutions for ourselves all the time, but what about our dogs? Are you going to take your puppy to obedience class, retire your best breeding b*tch, or do you hope to finally earn a title in something you've been working with on your dog? Perhaps you just want your dog's butt to hit the ground when you say "sit." Do you have any resolutions or plans?

My mom today was seriously thinking about getting a puppy for my home. Now i can take care of it and all (I am 13 btw) and i promised to run with it everyday for an hour (i am an athelete). The only problem is that my mom said that you have to be home every two hours to take care of the puppy. My parents are at work when i am at school.... So the dog on average weekdays would be alone for about 5 hours, but as soon as i get home, i would exercise it. Is there anyway to get around the not home problem? My dream was to get a dog and it is only possible if you guys help me to find an answer.

Thanks for the help,
-BK

I had to take my pit to an e-vet on x-mas because of a GI problem we had been dealing with. The dr on call ran alot of tests including tests I had done at my vet days before and ruled out. If I had not kept calling I don't think they would have kept him on the IV fluid that I brought him in for.
For $650 they kept him 20hrs and managed to undo almost everything my vet had done. He was wormed even though he was nausiated and had 2 negative tests for worms then they wanted to redo x-rays my vet had already done because he was vomiting! They stopped his antibiotic and put him on another for 20 hrs.
To add insult to injury when we got him home and cut of the tape where the IV had been we found the IV still in.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice and or expirience with e-clinics and have you ever heard of a clinic demanding money before services especially ones we didn't want or need and some that were actually harmful?
Thanks

I think different nicknames are funny! I think dog lovers probably have about 10 different nicknames, plus maybe a song or two.
What are yours?

My 2 1/2 year old cairn terrier has a disc in her back that is rupturing - after the diagnosis, the vet gave us pain medicine and said we should keep her quiet and keep her from jumping and climbing stairs. How can we keep her from jumping for 4 weeks so that her back can heal? She is an active dog and has a younger, rambunctious male companion of the same breed. As I'm typing, I've had to stop her from jumping up on the couch beside me (I lifted her up) and then I had to stop her from jumping down. I'm open to any reasonable suggestions. Thanks.
