Yes. Dogs generally go for 21 days, every 6 months. Mine is in heat now, she is a doberman mini pinscher, 2 years old. She just started December 24th and will be bleeding and in heat until approx. 01/13/08. Then she will be good till May or June.

You can get fixed, roughly $150 to 200 dollars US.

She is not still in heat, the longest a dog will be in heat is for about 4 weeks, and even then they are not swollen and bleeding that whole time (they are swollen and bloody for maybe about 2 weeks of it). My guess would be either an infection or a tumor. Signs of infection would be swelling and discharge. Really, if it is infected and has gone that long, the vet will likely need to spay her to remove the infected uterus. Hopefully she is not past the point at which that would cure her. Whatever it is, she should have seen a vet over a month ago and needs to see one immediately.

If you "want a vet to answer your question", then you need to call a vet. This site is 90% BYBs and kids. And even if I told you I was a vet, you shouldn't believe me. I could also tell you that I'm Angelina Jolie, the queen of venus, or a Yankee's Middle Reliever and it doesn't make it true.

Because heat generally lasts 3 weeks. If she's 11 months, then it's probably her first heat, so it's totally unpredictable.

Bleeding can last 14+ days in dogs....at least mine has in the past. Her first heat was the worst.

You should take her to a vet. She may have complications from being in heat and will need to be spayed.

If it bothers you, you should take her to the vet for spaying. After she gets spayed, you don't need to worry about this problem.
