As long as you are a good pack leader any dogs that you have should be fine around your children and other animals.

Yikes, that's an awful combination for a home with small children! I'm sure it's a total guess on the breed mix, but if they are right, I'd say this would be a very bad choice.
Cockers tend to be high strung and therefore bite.
Chow Chows are just usually nasty with everyone.
Neither tend to get along with other dogs.

Hmmm...cockers and chows. Both are often not very tolerant of small children and having their fur and skin pulled and pinched. It's *always* going to be an individual dog thing, but based purely on many cockers and many chows I've come across, I'd say no.

cockers a usually pretty good with kids and other dogs but i've not known chows to be very good with children. the combo however, would be a different story. i have to say, these are some unusual combinations of dogs. where do you find them?

It's too much of a gamble. There are much better mix out there. I have a well socialized cocker and he doesn't care for children, to him they're more annoying then exciting. What to say about chow chow, well they were initially bread for their meat....they're not very sociable dogs and they're very stubborn.

We have a CockerChow and she s absolutely wonderful with kids, seniors and other dogs. She is fiercely protective of my husband and I. We took her to the nursing homes that my mother and mother in law have been in for rehab and she made a fabulous Therapy Dog. Teach them when their young and you ll never have a problem.
