if you see that she is really in pain and cant take it anymore, as hard as it may be, i would consider putting her down.
i know that it wont be on the top of your list of things to do but it wont be fair on her to let her suffer.
you will know when that time comes.

good luck

So if I understand this correctly, the dog is 8, and you are 14 which means you got the dog when you were 6, correct? The obvious answer would be to have your parents take her to the vet, as I sincerely doubt that you are living on your own, and have been living on your own since you were 6 years old. Let alone having a computer and an active Internet connection.

Sell your computer and cancel your ISP subscription. Use the money to take your dog to the vet.
A medium sized mutt should live much longer than 8 years. If she doesn't have any teeth and is skin and bones then you (and your parents) have probably not been taking proper care of her. I bet you feed her table scraps and whatever cheep crap you can get at WalMart. I know you won't actually cancel your Internet or sell your computer, so maybe you can contact your local Humane Society for help or use your computer to find a dog rescue centre in your town. Somebody either has to take care of this dog or see that it is humanely euthanized (put down).

You need to take her to the vet! Don't let her be in pain!! My dog goes to the vet when I even THINK she may be in pain! Your dog counts on you to make her better... and you count on the vet.

Then your parents need to take her to the vet! Someone needs to take her! If someone sees she is in that shape and knows you (or your parents) are not helping her they can call the SPCA, who can come a get her... it's hard but that's reality and letting her suffer w/o getting her medical attention is cruel!

If your parents do not take her to the vet then they are not responsible pet owners.... I'm sorry, but it's true.

Is she happy?
If so then keep feeding her and caring for her. If she is in pain or miserable then it may be time to put her to sleep. It is a hard choice to make. Your vet can help you make it as well. She may have cancer you have to do test to find out a senior blood panel work-up from your vet will tell you a lot about her health.

It sounds like your dog is having kidney failure. She's not getting the nutrition from her food that she needs. My suggestion is take her to the vet and get her checked out. Follow their advice as thouroughly as possible. kidney failure can be fatal though and if you don't have enough money to support the dog my suggestion is (I'm sad to say) is to put her down. She doesn't deserve this kind of pain. Kidney failure is a very serious problem and should be treated ASAP

Jeeze you people who have never heard of a vet make me sick!! That is one of the most important things, its called being a responsible pet owner! When you are extremely sick or dieing do you just wait for someone to ask a question on yahoo or would you like to see a doctor?

We had to put our dog to sleep today. She would bleed when she ate because her teeth were bad. She couldn't go out to the bathroom and was in alot of pain. It is very very sad but she is better off. She was 14 years old

Wow, she isn't old, but she has no teeth, she has lost a lot of weight and she can't go up the stairs.. Did you think about taking her to the VET? He is the guy who helps people when their pets are sick or injured. Give him a call.

I had a cat like that. Check her eyes for jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin due to disease). She could have cancer. My cat had a tumor two years ago. That kind of thing is irreversible. I'd put her down, because she's kinda up there in age. They usually don't like to operate on dogs like that.
