He is a year old collie, he threw up a few times in 1 day but no more for the past few days. He also for a few days before would rub his backside against furniture. Now all he will do is eat, drink, and sleep. He has runny eyes and lays around unusually all day. The vet gave us dewormer and a shot for a fever but that was all they did!!! They said they could do tests but they wouldnt take a payment plan so I cant afford it!! Could he have worms? Where can I go with a payment plan option?

Is this a good reason to get a dog?

2007-12-28 06:01:59 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous

I have a dog that's about 3 years old that I adopted from a humane shelter, she's a corgi/lab mix. I used to live in the country with my parents and their 2 dogs and now I've moved into the city with my dog, so she doesn't get to run free like she did. We don't have a fenced in yard but I do take her for walks. I'm thinking about possibly getting another lab mix cuz she's a very social dog, doesn't try to be dominant nor too shy. And I work about 8 to 10 hours a day and although she has toys and stuff I'm wondering if a second dog would make her happy. She met my brothers puppy at christmas and they were having a blast playing outside in the snow in the country. But would she still enjoy another dog if they're both mostly inside dogs, and only get to go out on a leash? Also, she is a spayed female so would it be best to get another spayed female or a neutered male? She doesn't misbehave when I'm gone though, but like all dogs she gets very excited when I come home.

My sister gave him too much food yesterday and he's been lying in the same position for I don't know how long, he won't even go outside and he LOVES to go outside.
What should I do to help him feel better??
(someone told me that I can give him a baby aspirin, is it safe? would it help in any way?)

I've adopted an elderly (11+ year old husky) that was in the shelter for months and was going to be euthanized soon. He's been in and out 10 times there and his back legs are really weak from either a spine problem or being hit by a car. We thought he would be no problem and wanted to adopt him to let him live out his days in a forever home. When we got home, all he would do was follow us around slowly or lay down. But the first day I left him alone 3 hours, I put him in the large guest room so he wouldnt get to my birds (and he kept pushing the hallway gate away) and when I came home, he ate the bed sheets, ripped the curtains, shattered the blinds, and almost broke the window. So the next day i left him alone 3 hours in a METAL crate and when I came back, he practically ate his way out of it (broke 14 bars off!). I don't know what to do and I feel extremely terrible bringing him back to the shelter. We don't have a yard, which the shelter recommended for him since he's an escaper.

Yesterday around noon the vet called to say that our 11 year old labrador retriever had 2 tumors, one in the esophagus, another by the lungs. We knew he was suffering and that by the hour he was getting worst. So yesterday around 4:30 he was put down. he was my best friend, had him since i was 10.

So I was just wondering, my birthdays tomorrow and I am so depressed. I cant stop crying. But is there anything I can do on my birthday or how can I enjoy the day without crying?

I have a 9 month old lab/shepherd mix who chews up toys very quickly... she can't have anything that is made of cloth as its destroyed within 5 minutes. She got 4 toys for christmas... a reindeer with a bottle inside of it (chewed threw the reindeer material in 15 minutes) "the most durable soft chew toy in the world" (or so they claimed... started ripping fuzz out by 5 minutes) and a vinal squeeky hot dog (had the end of the dog chewed off in 2 minutes).

When I go to a pet store she gets kong refills, ropes (which don't last too long) and latex squeeky toys. Are there any other good toys for agressive chewers?

I'd like to hear some experiences from people out there who breed their dogs. I've been considering getting into it for a while, but most articles come at it with a doomsday perspective. I figure if so many people are doing it... there must be some positive side.

Let's be clear... I'm not currently breeding dogs. I'm trying to be responsible about this. I'm interested in hearing experiences, not preaching on why it's such a bad thing to do this that or another thing.

My dog has 4 distinct lumps under his neck and has fits of coughing and spits up a slight amount of blood. The coughing started a few weeks ago but I noticed the swelling two days ago. Has anybody else experienced this with their dog?

I bought this dog over the weekend and I can't find the breed name online. I was so lucky to get it too. It was the last one he had It was certain fate that brought our little shnookums to us in the grocery store parking lot saturday, almost like a christmas miracle. And only $800! My friend paid $1000 for her Goldendoodle, so what a deal!

I was hoping someone has more info on what sort of temperament they have. He seems to be a bit grumpy, and I want to know what is normal and what is 'new home jitters'?

I've always been curious as to how people manage to have their dogs in advertisements and commercials? Are there pet auditions or something? Anyone know about anything in the Toronto, ON region?

Our dog has allergies resulting in constant ear infections and, after nothing else worked, the vet recommended changing her diet. I need to find a dog food that is available in USA grocery stores. Thanks for any help

My boyfriend loves beagles, but because of our apartment restrictions, we can't have one. I found a few ads for "pocket beagles" or "English Loughner beagles" online, but precious little information exists. Is this a legitimate breed? Do they have some awful genetic issue because of inbreeding to make them that small? What's going on here?

1. Are dogs color-blind? I heard it from somewhere...

2. How should I keep my canine (Japanese Spitz) entertained while I'm busy or away from home? I feel guilty sometimes when I have to go to school. Will she get very bored or upset?

I love my doggy so much... Any suggestions?
