Yes,I think it is.
Dogs are a great source of joy and happiness in your life.
They keep you busy tending to their needs such as training them, feeding them and just attending to everyday chores.
The rewards are great and you will certainly feel less lonely with another heart beat in the house.
Good luck and God bless.

It's a good reason to get a dog provided you are in a position to care for the dog.

Having a pet is a great stress reliever, it gives you great company, and you're bound to meet a lot of other dog people when you take your dog our for walks.

But you have to be sure you are prepared financially and physically for the needs of a dog. Food, vets, training, crates, toys, grooming, etc. They all cost money. And dogs need exercise every day; whether it's a walk through the neighborhood or a trip to the dog park.

If you feel you can properly care for a dog, then welcome to the wonderful world of pet parenting! It's stressful at times, but well worth the effort.

i think that that is a great reason to have a dog. My friend has one of her own and it always makes her smile and when ever shes home alone it keeps her company. I would get a dog that you can play games with like fetch and teach him or her to do tricks to make the time go by faster when you are lonely. Also dogs are great to speak to and they always listen i no that sounds weird but its true. But be careful because they are a big responsibility and a lot of money. Good luck!

I think that’s a good reason to get a dog as long as you have the money to support it and are really ready for the responsibility including all the vet check ups and visits.

When I bought my first Pomeranian years ago, it was because my daughter had passed away and for a long time I was inconsolable. Utterly depressed, I couldn't find comfort in anything.

I thought about little dogs, just to keep close to me, and I found my tiny little teddy bear and the therapeutic nature of these animals came out.

He helped me through the most devastating time of my life. He’s still my little angel, always with me, and when I’m down, he can sense it and will cuddle with me, letting me know that he cares.

He’s so sweet. I don’t know the kind of dog you want, but Poms helped me out a lot and they’re small lap dogs, perfect for cuddling.

well dogs do require more than just cuddling, comforting, and love. dogs need check ups do the vet, pills and medecations to prevent diseases, neutering or spaying, a bed, food and water bowls, toys, an area outside to do its buisness, a collar, a microchip, baths, grooming, clipped nails (not too often, just once every month), food, treats, training classes, leash, oh boy its so hard to name all the things they need, they need so much! money and responsibility is a big part of having a dog, and if you think you have money, responsibility, and patience, go for it!

if your lonely, get a boyfriend or a dog. or both =]

Yes it is a very good reason. Dogs require lots of love and attention and always want to be with you. They really do make you feel less lonely. My family and i have a goldendoodle and she really is just the best. She really does make us happier. Best wishes to you in the New Year!

is a great reason to get a pet! animals are better than humans :)

as long as you don't abuse the dog -- say -- don't hit it when it has an accident indoors -- sure, get a dog!

it's also a good way to meet other ppl with dogs -- if you don't mind talking about dogs all the time

Can be - but it really depends on your lifestyle. If you're single, a dog requires a lot of regular maintenance. Who will take it outside while you're at work or at play?

A cat is a much more self-supporting pet. You can leave them for days at a time without any problems. Just need a litter box and some food/water.

As Long as you realize the dog is going to need love, regular grooming ( if longer haired even then regular baths), food, toys, regular vet visits etc. If you have the means to take care of him then get one. But you have to realize it's not one of those things that you get and then only pay attention to it when you want to. It is a life time commitment, and continuously costing you.

As good as any. They do make excellant companions. But be prepared to have to walk it and take care of it just like you would your child. I had mine for 15 long yrs., she's in doggy heaven now and I miss her companionship. Go to your nearest shelter and adopt one, or should I say see which one wants you to take it. Those are the most needy ones and make excellant pets. Loving and comforting.
