We make resolutions for ourselves all the time, but what about our dogs? Are you going to take your puppy to obedience class, retire your best breeding b*tch, or do you hope to finally earn a title in something you've been working with on your dog? Perhaps you just want your dog's butt to hit the ground when you say "sit." Do you have any resolutions or plans?

In 2008, Missy will become my first agility dog. I'm so excited! I'm also going to work with her on her training some more, as usual. I want to get the groundwork for agility down in 2008.

I will also send a "thank you" donation to the shelter I adopted her from and let them know how she's doing in training.

I'm going to get a new, better vet.

I'd like to start feeding her some raw meaty bones.

I will STOP buying crap for her. She's a DOG.

I will join the ASPCA and a dog training club in my area and expand my dog dorkiness.

Wow, if I ever bring Missy to Cornwall, she'd love romping around off her leash! She's always allowed to sniff dogs' butts. That's part of being a dog last time I checked.

My goals for them is to get them down to the weight they are suppose to be. I have been working on it, but I haven't been nearly as strict as I should have been. I, too, want them to have some raw, meaty bones. Their quality of food is really good, just too much of it. I will be regular on their dental care. (been a little slack in that area, too) They will also have longer walks. Right now, it's only a mile to 1.5 miles. I'd like to bump it up to 2 miles every day.

What a great question, gal and her dog!

Well, I think that my doggie resolution is going to be working a lot harder on training my golden. She is very well trained, but I know that she has so much potential, and I will try to unleash some of that potential. Ooh! And I will probably try for her CGC...she's too hyper to sit still for anyone right now, so I will have to work on that.

I would also like to make a contribution to the shelter I volunteer at, either a money donation or donate items. I may even make some blankets for the poor dogs...they're always running low.

I would also like to be a foster mom again this year. Last year I foster two sets of kittens, and got ringworm both times...and haven't fostered since (my house needed to be sterilized for 2 months at least before more could come). I will definitely try to think of a new way to contain the kittens so that if I foster, they won't spread the ringworm all over the house.

I would also like to train my other dog not to bark as much. She is a little excessive when it comes to barking, and I have tried many things, but so far, none of been successful. I just need to research more until I find the right one!

So yeah, I have a TON of dog-related resolutions! =)

Good luck in the agility with Missy!!!

I'm going to be working on Willow's over-all fitness and try taking her swimming if I can just get her over her dislike of deep water. She is going to help me get the exercise the Doctors have prescribed for me too!
I also intend to work on her training a bit more as we still have some problems with recall. Most of the time she is obedient but I think I'd like to take her to a higher standard.
I'm also debating whether to have a new pup or not. It might be my last chance to raise a puppy but it will be fun and it will give me something to look forward to when I retire in a couple of years time!
Hope all dog lovers have a good year with their pets and good luck to all taking part in doggie activities!

Balasuba if you can afford a computer and the internet then you sure as hell can afford food!

I have two dogs that I would like to finish in conformation. I would also like to find a trainer and start an obedience class in our town since we desperately need one. I also would like to work with all my dogs on their CGC. But most of all I just want to give them loves and have loves in return. Everything else is just a bonus. We also know someone with a champion dog that cross faults with one of our b*tches that we have been wanting to breed her too. All her health tests will be back by the end of January, so that during her next heat we can breed them. We plan on growing some of the pups out into hopefully great Champions.

My 4 year old Shepherd/lab mix has really bad hip dyaplasia and has dislocated her hip twice in the last 3 months. I am taking her to be evaluated for surgery in January. Her vet has recommended an FHO. A total hip replacement is the best option but it is well outside my financial ability at 5000 (per hip). An FHO will cost about half that much (per hip). So, it's not really a resolution - I guess it falls more under the heading of a plan. Although not a fun one - a necessity.

I expect Shadow and I will earn her first title in obedience, a CD and we will likely get to the next level in the open ring as well. I also am hoping that we can compete in herding this year as well. Most likely mid summer to fall some time before we'll be officially ready for herding competition, but I expect lots of good training by the time spring arrives and the weather is easier for training in the field.

Get back into training and hopefully get some of the titles we've been aiming for. Starter titles in agility and rally obedience before we move onto some more serious stuff. I had some bad things happen in sept and have been dealing with them since then but I've almost gotten my life back on track. Cant wait.

My goal for my mini doxie is to teach her how to walk nicely on a leash and also to finish all of her shots. I also want to volunteer at my local ASPCA here in NYC and help make a difference even if it's small.

By the end of 2008, I'm hoping that Lucy will know all her basic commands, sit, stay, heel, down etc. and will be a well rounded house pet :-)

I hope to start training both of my dogs more this coming year and start training my younger dachshund for earthdog competition. I hope to get her a J.E. (Junior earthdog) title. I hope my 12 year old girl stays as happy and healthy as she is now into her 13th birthday, and my 4 (fixing to be 5) year old comes out of her shell a little more around other people. I also hope that she can lose a little weight and I'm sure earthdog can help with that! I just want my dogs to be happy and healthy and I'm sure I'll make some great memories with them in 2008! :)

I'd like to get Xiena into a few shows this year and work on her obedience. She is a SPAZ, especially when she meets people, she also has a very very high prey drive, so maybe, a little sleeve work...obedience first, the little monster can barely stay put at this point.

the other dogs, well their biggest goal is to stop eating table scraps...my father in law is always sneaking them food...BAD GEEZER!!!
