'everyone thinks he has pneumonia'?? Like by everyone are you meaning his veterinarian or just the lady next door and your buddy down the road? And they got their medical degree where?
If your dog is sick, you need to get him to a veterinarian for assessment. No one on the internet will be giving you any valid answer and will likely cause more issues -- you think your dog has a disease that KILLS easily -- still it is a big killer in humans and is often a killer in dogs as well, particularly if their medical needs are neglected as in not seeking and getting proper medical attention. If you can't afford to take the dog to the vet, well, sell your computer? or borrow some money or maybe give the dog to the local shelter so they can provide it with proper care or rehome it with someone willing to take the responsibility of caring for it properly. Not knowing what the organism that would be causing the pneumonia (and it could even be viral or even more likely in dogs, fungal!) you cannot just 'guess' at what antibiotic to give him or just willy nilly start shoving amoxicillan down him... would you want that done to you or one of your family members?
add: ACtually it doesn't sound like he has pneumonia at all -- it rarely happens overnight like that - he may actually be in congestive heart failure but either way, given the symptoms you describe, he needs to get to the vet NOW. He may not make it til tomorrow without immediate care.

How do you know your dog has pneumonia? If a professional did diagnose it then he would medicate your pet. If YOU are diagnosing this you could be making a FATAL mistake! Why pneumonia? If coughing is the symptom, there are many other deadly illnesses a dog could have such as a tumor in the nasal cavity or lung or even heartworm. Coughing is the symptom for these and more and amoxycillin will not help at all! If you want your pet to live, go to a vet immediately!

How do you know if your dog even has pnemonia??? Dosage would depend of the dogs weight and a examination by your vet.
Have the dog seen before you over dose the dog with improper medication dosages.
You can run a vaporizer for him or get him into an emergency vet tonight.

You should only give medicine to your dog that has been prescribed by a vet. First of all, it appears that you have not received a certain diagnosis that your dog has a bacterial infection. If the infection is not bacterial, antibiotics would not be useful. Second, your vet will be able to give the best advice on dosage, etc.

I'm not a vet yet, but even when I am, I wouldn't give doses of antibiotics over the internet to a stranger. Would you trust a doctor who did the same?

You should not be self-medicating your dog. Many human medications are deadly to dogs.
You must get your dog to the vet immediately to be properly evaluated and treated, if not your dog may die if not treated.

Ask your vet, not strangers online. We can't prescribe medications.
