My 1 year old dog has hurt her paw. She was downstairs with Mum and she came up stairs and started limping. Mum said she didn't see her knock it or hurt herself.

Well at first Tilly wouldn't put any weight on her paw but then she started limping.

I held her on her back (how we taught at puppy school) and pushed and felt her leg and paw, but she didn't flinch or seem like she was in much pain. I did this about 2 hours ago.

She'd been sleeping on my brothers bed and I went in and checked on her and felt her paw and leg again and she just drew away from me.

She's hobbled into my bed now and fallen asleep on my arm. She's lost all her normal energy and seems really sad.

What do I do? It's 11.15pm

Is it possible to make your own dog training spray that doesn't include chemicals?

Ok so my puppy had its first puppy training class. And she kept barking at the other dogs ( I think she was excited) but she wouldn't stop, well actually she'd stop and then she'd go again....Meanwhile the other puppies didn't make a peep...well actually again, some of them barked but only like once or twice, mine barked a lot...How do I calm her down or stop her from barking during class cause this lady kept staring at me....and I'm like what...actually I think i was paranoid, she'd stared at any dog weirdly that barked...ok answer my question please, which is located somewhere up there....?

We have a 7-8 month old Husky. We have been informed by our vet and family friends that it is around the time where she will be getting her first 'period'. I would like to know what are the signs to show this.

Today, she hasn't been all enthusiastic as she is usually very cheeky and would jump onto dinner table and jump on family members, however today she was sitting near the dinner table and have lied around us and being very quiet.

Today, while she was having her no.2's, she was howling very loudly.

She is also licking her vaginal (or how should I describe it? Sorry) part more frequently today.

Is this signs that she is going to have her first period very soon? (Today/tomorrow?).

What should we do about it? Should we still play with her and let her inside the house or leave her outside for the time being? If so, how long?

Thank you!

The dog is a pit bull mix
she is a very good dog....but she has seemed to attach herself to me...she is always following me around and will not let me out of her sight!
I am staying at my cousins house for at least 8 weeks and have no way of contacting him to ask him...
My boyfriend wants to stay with me while I am there, but the dog does not seem to like him very much?
She is fine with him until he gets close to me...
She doesnt bother him and will even play with him, but as soon as he goes to give me a kiss or gets close to me she starts to show her teeth and growl...
I want my boyfriend to stay with me while I am there but I am afraid to leave him home alone with her while I am at work?
Do you think that it would be fine because she seems ok with him unless he is near me, and if I am not there then it should be ok right?
I just know pit bulls dont have a very good rep and I dont want anything to happen...?
Help?

Dogs are always peeing and craping in my yard... Would it be mean if I biuld a devise called a dog pee post? The devise would consist of a metal conductor sticking up from the ground with a large car battery or several car batterys hooked together to a voltage amplifier (200,000 volts)....when a dog tries to take a piss on it it will get a non life threatining 200,00 volt jolt.....mabe i could set up a sprinkler system that would pop up and spray the dog with water when activated by the pee post...the wet dog would make a better conducter for electricity than a dry dog....this would be a non life threatining devise...it would just remind to dog not to pee there anymor.......

To places that have no dogs allowed signs?

The reason I ask is I work at a small but wonderful nature center. We do not allow dogs for a few reasons the biggest being we are funded and ran by the area's public school district as a field trip location which see's over 16,000 kids per school year. Some dogs are not so great with kids AND who wants to hike in someone's doggy mess? I have 6 dogs myself and went up to someone last year who decided to come visit with their golden retriever and let him know we are a no dogs allowed center and there is a dog park a few block away. He cursed me out!! Screaming and shouting how his dog wasnt hurting anything ect ect. All while I had 60 kids staring and wondering why he was being the way he was. I tried explaining our policy but he wouldnt hear it. I love taking my dogs places. Dog parks, nature walks ect but only when they are allowed. And we have 6 signs visible from the parking lot alone!!!! So, do you go area's that do not allow dogs?

I don't get why people have "outdoor dogs". Dogs are the happiest when they're with their family- not outside alone. I don't care if your dog is destructive you need to train it. I've had multiple dogs my entire life and they've all slept in bed with me, lived indoors, and had great happy lives. I feel like people who keep their dogs outside 24/7 are bad dog owners- even if they have a dog house. I don't believe in letting your dog live on the end of a chain either. I think chained dogs should be outlawed. I live in New England, South of Boston, and I have NEVER heard of an outdoor dog until I started helping out with rescues in Southern states (mainly Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, etc). Why is this? Why is acceptable for Southern states to have gassing shelters? Chained dogs? Outdoor dogs? It would NEVER be tolerated where I live...ever. Is it just the way people think about their pets in different regions...?

I used the flea and tick treatment Bio Spot today and it seems like it just makes it worse. My poor dog is itching all over and it won't stop. How long should I wate till I can apply a different flea treatment like frontline? My dog is a really small tea cup poodle and I don't want to overdose her.

Today, my friend brought her Pekingese and we played with it. I let her puppy lick and sniff my hand.
But I didn't wash my hands. After we played with the pup, my head itched and I scratched it like non-stop. And my thighs looked like they had chicken pox. (I didn't even scratch any part of my leg!!!
--
Q: Is it because I didn't wash my hands??? Is it the pup's fur? Can dog fleas be transported to humans?

I have tried medicine from the vets-costly and did not work more than a couple of weeks. There is no sign of fleas which I was told causes these type of worms. Suggestions?

He is CLEAN...you can go by him and put your face right in his fur and smell him and he smells like shampoo...nice and clean. But the moment he starts itching his ears he stinks SO bad and it stinks up the whole room? Does anyone know what it could be. I plan to call the vet but can't do so until Tuesday being as its holiday weekend.

Most of my dogs that I have had I got for free but free doesn't always mean free in the end.

The 2 dogs I have now is a Rottie mix named Dakota who I got from of a neighbor of a friend of my mom. I didn't pay anything to get her.

My other dog Duke is a Lab mix! He is a rescue dog. He was rewcued from a storm drain as a pup with his family with their mom. He was free too. I adopted him from where I used to work.

Asking simple and often "childish" questions here will never give you a proper broad picture of a "dog as species".
This board is ill equiped for dealing with MESSED up dogs.
Dogs whose "owners" never bothered to study their pals properly. Educate yourself and try to UNDERSTAND your dogs as complex animals.

I am trying to get my puppies to eat solid food. Is there any technique you recommend for doing this? Right now I'm crushing the food up, so they can eat it.
