In today's world, unfortunately, you should wash your hands more than in any other era. HIV and more dangerous bacteria and stronger virus are around more than ever. Try to never touch your face when your hands have not just been washed (after using a doorknob, pen, about everything) so you won't get pimples. I grew up with Pekinese and had about seven at one time on the farm when I was growing up.. As for your itching and rash--Since the hair is itching, it may be fleas or nerves. Either one, wash your hair thoroughly even if you have washed it even today, Actually take a shower and wash your hair and body thoroughly. I think the rash could be allergy, but my bet is on either flea powder residue or THE DOG LICKED YOU. Dogs licking is not good for humans. A dog can digest bones in their stomach if they can get it swallowed. Their mouth is very acid and would leave a rash that may take a day or two to get rid of--shorten the time by taking a bath and put the 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vinegar to help clean any spittle that may remain. If the dog has worms, small children can get them. Anyway, it's never healthy to allow a dog to lick you a lot, and not in the nose and mouth because of the worms, and not on the face without washing immediately because of large pores or pimples might get infected. Remember, dogs eat their own bowel movements sometimes. Hug and pat the dog, and should you be licked--wash asap. No big deal should be made of it, just know that dogs are not human and aren't the same type of clean as humans. Dogs are loving and having one or being friends is a privilege, just be appropriately cautious.

Could be fleas, possibly puppy mites, did the dog have dry flakes in it's fur? Are you allergic to dogs? If any of these, washing your hands would not have prevented it.
Nothing really bad happens when you don't wash your hands after petting a dog unless the dog is sick.

you dont have to wash your hands before or after you play with a dog, you may be allergic to the dog, you need to talk to your doctor and ask him/her if you may be allergic to dogs, I am very allergic to cats but I am fine with dogs,
and to answer you other question yes you can get flea's on you from a dog, but if the dog doesnt have flea's then you probably had an allergic reaction to the dog, and that is what it sounds like cause that is what i do when I am around cats and plus I can not breath around them
I hope this helps and just call your doctor when you get a chance or when you go and see them agian just ask if they would like to do test to see if you are allergic to them

i think you might be allergic to dogs.
i used to get that as well. i got it on my ellbow area.
it was soo itchy.
now i am much better but i still get some rashes that itch like crazy and look like tiny little moskito bites.
best thing is to wash your hands after you touch a dog and when you are near one you might want to take some antihistamine. get a doc to prescribe you some and get an allergy kit done.
good luck

Not necessary but if u feel that it`s unhealthy then it is advisable to do so. Sometimes people are alergic to dog`s hair and spittle.
In yr case I think u are alergic to either the puppy`s hair or spittle.
Do consult yr family doc.

Yes they can be transported to humans, but i never heard of symptoms that you are describing.
You can feel when you are bitten by a flea.
Maybe some type of Alergic reaction, but i dont think so.
Did you see a phycian?

No it isn't because you didn't wash your hands. You should't need to wash your hands after stroking a normal, healthy pet dog!
Ask your friend what she defleas her dog with but frankly, it sounds like you're allergic to dogs.

You might be alergic to dogs. Check with your doctor to be sure. Fleas can be spread to humans, but it sounds more likely that you're just aleric to him.
