has begun to nip at my visiting relatives- my daughter and son (who are adults) and my grandchildren (7 and 9) for no reason. One of them may be walking by minding their own business.
I have heard this breed has the herding instinct in him and is protective especially while on his own turf.
Will someone with knowledge of Australian Shepherds tell me how to stop this please?
By the way, the female does not act like this, she is very lovable and has never nipped anyone.
thank you

We found a stray German Shepard in front of our house. He is disgustingly skinny, like he hasn't eaten in weeks. He was limping. So, I had to take him in and feed him. I took him to the vet and they said he may have hip dysplasia, something is wrong with his shoulder, he has a chipped tooth, and he needs to be neutered because he only has one testicle and the other one that's up inside him may cause cancer. I can't really afford to keep him. Plus I don't really want to keep him because my dog that I had since I was 4 just passed away and I can't have another one right now. I feel bad because I don't want him to end up on the streets again. I don't want to give him to some animal shelter and then they put him to sleep. What should I do?

I took my 6mo old Pit Bull Terrier in today to the vet because his stomach has stretched and gotten very hard. They found he has yellowish liquid in his stomach and they said his heart was enlarged as well. She had thought it might be because of liver problems, however ruled that out as she found his heart was enlarged? I was hoping to find out if anyone has had this happen to their pet and what the outcome was? She recomended a cardiaologist and also talked about putting him down? I really don't want to do that but i don't see how these two diagnosis can be linked? Wouldn't it be two seperate problems to have to be treated? Also could the liquid have been caused by a case of kennel cough he had about 3 weeks ago?

I see small black gritty things in my dogs fur, and my borhter swears that they are flea eggs. Since out dog is an outdoor dogs, and I assume flea eggs would be miscrscopic, AND the dog is wearing a flea collar....Im assuming its nothin more than dirt...but would just like to make sure.

i have two dogs. a medium sized mix breed and a small red Jack Russell terrier. i let them outside and then a lil while after they came back in they started acting extremely afraid.

they're shaking uncontrollably and panting like they've been running a lot.

my smaller dog seems to want to be very close to me.

any ideas of what's wrong with them?

We're talking retch worthy smell here! We've tried to evacuate them like we have seen done in online videos. Sometimes we're successful...sometimes we're not. But it's just AWFUL! Any suggestions on prevention, treatment, etc.? He's a border collie mix, BTW...about 60 pounds.

FIRST she is getting spayed at tax time...we want the best for her..so we have opted to wait until then. Yes there are free places but she may have complications due to her bad genetics so we are waiting...we'll have enough money then in case something serious goes wrong then too. YES we have enough to do it now at the regular vet...but we want a specialist nearby just in case.

Anyway she's in heat. Right now she is whinning nostop. I think she has cramps or something. She is constantly whinning. It's getting sort of old...so what can I do to make her feel better. Will putting a warm wash cloth on her belly close to her well..pick a name for it...help any or will that raise her body temp too much. What should I do? HELP ME OUT SOMEONE! She isn't happy right now at all. I don't like that. I want my fur baby to be happy.

My vet has told me my dog has a slipped disc but didn't take an xray. He told me to keep him caged for two weeks then to start physio. But i'm wondering if thats what it is. His back end has gone completely but he can hardly use his front legs and is curling his front paws in. He also seems off balance when he's laying down and just moving his head. He's on painkillers so hopefully not too uncomfortable but i'm very worried. By the way he's a Jack Russell cross with allsorts. Does this sound like a slipped disc or something else??

Hi my dog is a husky terrier (a mix) she is 4 years old. I want to breed her but I don't know what step I should take first. I know I have to find her a mate, but when I do then what should I do then? (I know I should contact my vet to make sure my dog is able to have puppies, and to make sure i have all the info about the mate) but once I get that what should I do next? Does my dog have to be in "heat" when I decided to breed her? I really want to make sure she will be fine and healthy before I actually breed her. So I'm just looking for some advice. Thank you.

My aunt and uncle have 2 puppies that are 6 months old, and recently they have started to nelgect the puppies. Also they have 4 children so it's not the best environment for puppies (the dogs have been dropped and fallen on). I would love to have a dog and have talked about with my parents before (I'm 15) and they decided i was responsible enough, we just never got a dog. My aunt and uncle have had dogs in the past and end up giving the dogs away after about a year. Is there any way for me to politely let my aunt and uncle know that we would be willing to take one of the puppies without sounding rude?

I have a large dog who attacks his sister only at a dog park when they're both running loose. He's fine with almost every other dog. I'm not sure how to handle it except I grab his collar and try to snap him out of it but he'll bite my hands and go right back to her. What do I do please?

whenever I lock my dog up in his kennel, he just won't stop whining, maybe it is because my cat bothers him. I am not sure. Any help would be great!

ok so here is the story my dog(german-shorthair) loves rawhides, and well i'm beginning to believe that they are giving her gas, and bad. I was just wondering since i don't want to not give her rawhides if i could just give her beano or something like that? My sister also has the same problem with her pitbull, and we don't know what the reason for that is except maybe his digestive tract, but something has to be done about it. Any suggestions?

I have an austrailian shephard puppy that stays outdoors at night to sleep. He has a large lot covered with 2 sides to keep a draft out, medium sized dog house with flap over front, and a heating pad covered in towels to help keep him warm. Today he some how managed to get doggie poo all over himself and he smells terrible. I was wondering if it is ok to give him a bath indoors, then keep him inside 5-6 hours to give him proper time to dry before taking him out to go to sleep. Somone recently told me i couldnt bath a dog in the winter though because it takes them four days to dry and he would get pnumonia? Somone tell me if i can bath him right now and a proper way to make sure he is fully dried.

One is 3 yrs old, and the other is almost 1yr old. They got along fine, in the beginning, with the older one being the boss, but now things seem to have changed!
The 3 year old, lately has become timid and almost afraid of the younger one, it is like she does not like the younger one now...

I think she is jealous but I am really worried because the older dog is not herself lately, and just wants to hide & sleep and she seems stressed.
I took her to the vet the other day and he said that I need to spend time with the older dog, alone and away from the younger one. Which is quite difficult when they both need and require my attention!
Any suggestions? Thanks!
