Never give it a chance to make an uncorrected mistake. That means keeping the dog crated, kenneled, or leashed to someone paying attention. If the dog is not yet neutered, getting that done will help a lot.

Take the dog outside every hour or so and tell it to Go Potty. Don't talk to the dog or look at it until it goes. Then give it lots of praise and sometimes a tasty treat.

This will cost you a little sleep, but it worked for me. We got a pound puppy who was not house broken and a fear piddler. So, discipline as a teaching tool was out - he would just piddle some more, poor thing. Kennel the dog in a large crate for the night after taking him outdoors for the opportunity to go. Get up every hour (yes, I know, it is a pain) and let him out. If he potties, tell him he is a good dog. Lots of people give treats - I didn't and it still worked. The next day I was careful to watch him and get him out at least every two hours. That night, I let him out every two hours and used the "go potty" command. The next night, he went on the three hour mark, so I let him go four hours before letting him out. I started all this on a weekend so I wouldn't be too dead at work. Over the next week I increased the time for getting up during the night, but he was essentially trained by Monday. We did have a few accidents, but since he was crated at night, it made clean up easier. Eventually, he slept in the crate with the door open. The advantage to teaching the dog "got potty" is later when you want to go somewhere, he will usually go, so you won't have to worry about accidents in the car.

You can try this method.
When he looks like he's about to take a pee, take him outside(make sure you go with them, it makes them feel safer and they'll know you'll be watching.) Don't bring him in until he goes to the bathroom. When you do finally bring him in, reward him with a treat. Do this each time he goes potty until he is used to the routine.(it usually takes about 1-2 weeks or sometimes more, depending on how you enforce the training)

My grandma breeds Shih Tzus. I own one myself. If you want to let his hair grow out then you need to brush his hair everyday. Most Shih Tzus have sensitive skin so we use Tearless Baby Shampoo and we bath them every 6 months. Or unless they are extremely dirty. If you want to get hair cuts for you dog you can take him to a groomer or get a pair of sheers with attachments so you don't cut the dog.

Well you can buy puppy pads first of all. But when they pee on the floor rub their nose in there. Try to get them crate trained. You put them in their crates at night so they don;t rip anything up or during the day when they have done wrong.

you will have to start from scratch...go out with him and praise when he does it and say nothing if he makes a mistake...don't scold it only reinforces bad behavior....a belly band may be use full in doors but don't take him out in it...don't take the advise of caging or kenneling that will not train him to be house trained it will just be cruel as he hasn't realized it is unacceptable to foul in the house...its up to you patience will work and praise....talk to him when you are outside say something like wee and when he goes good boy and make a fuss he will associate weeing in the desired spot with lots of attention....
