FIRST she is getting spayed at tax time...we want the best for her..so we have opted to wait until then. Yes there are free places but she may have complications due to her bad genetics so we are waiting...we'll have enough money then in case something serious goes wrong then too. YES we have enough to do it now at the regular vet...but we want a specialist nearby just in case.

Anyway she's in heat. Right now she is whinning nostop. I think she has cramps or something. She is constantly whinning. It's getting sort of old...so what can I do to make her feel better. Will putting a warm wash cloth on her belly close to her well..pick a name for it...help any or will that raise her body temp too much. What should I do? HELP ME OUT SOMEONE! She isn't happy right now at all. I don't like that. I want my fur baby to be happy.

Her whining is a "calling" to male dogs, she shouldn't be in pain, there may be a little discomfort but nothing serious. Keep her indoors and when she has to go outside, go with her, her scent is very strong and can easily attract male dogs. Call your local animal shelter, or humane society, they usually have reduced spay/ neuter programs conducted by volunteer Vet's. She should be fine doing it there, if there are any special needs for her, be sure to tell the Vet.

First off, she is a dog, not a 'fur baby' - to treat her as such is to do a disservice to her -- dogs don't have a lot of the silly emotional bagage and issues that people do so to treat her like she does is cruel and rather immature. She is having her season, not a period - dogs don't have 'cramps' during their season like humans do. The entire process of estrus is completely different in dogs than in humans. It really would have been wiser to have her altered prior to her first season as studies have shown that allowing a b*tch to have even one season can increase her chances of mammary cancer dramatically. The whining might just be her response to your attempting to humanize her as dogs tend to reflect their owner's insecurities. Try treating her like the canine she is and not degrading her by considering her human and maybe she will live a more well adjusted canine life as your companion. Good luck.

I know what you are saying. Rips your heart out when you know they are miserable. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do except maybe give her some baby aspirin.
