Which do you prefer out of these kind of dogs, either based off experience, or in general..?

I have a pure breed Lab but mainly because we breed him and because has a very good bloodline for hunting. He was about 700 dollars so it depends if you are willing to pay that much for a dog. Mixed breeds are just as good of dogs but i would not say one kind is better than the other! They are equal. And no, I am not "snobby" so i have to have a pure breed.. my Yellow lab is a family dog, but is used for hunting also and is very good at what he does ;).

So, it depends.. do you care what kind of dog you get? If you choose to adopt ( i recommend ) your dog could be anywhere from half pit bull to half German Shepard.

GOOD LUCK !

I'm a shelter dog nerd, based on my experience. I don't think either is more susceptible to genetic disease in general. Yeah, some mutts are bred from top-of-the-line purebreds, and some purebreds are puppymilled to the point where you can't tell what they're really supposed to be anymore - it evens out overall. I've only had mutts and rescue dogs my whole life, but have interacted with purebreds and loved them. It isn't the same, but I generally just love dogs.

My dog is a mutt and I love her just the same. I haven't really fallen in love with one breed as of yet, but I love and respect purebreds quite a bit. If you're asking what I'll likely own and have owned in twenty years, I'd guess a whole lot of mutts. I like the mystery involved with the temperaments, but I don't have small children or anything where that would be more of an issue.

Which do I love better? Can I just say "dogs"? ;)

Have had both and prefer purebreds of heritage I know. It is a falsehood to consider that mutts have better health or temperament - they don't. I have had more mutts drop dead of genetic diseases than purebreds. The difference as I see it is that I KNOW what is behind the purebreds and can figure out what to expect both health, temperament and structurally. There are zillions of unwanted mutts though and if you don't care about health or temperament or structure then it would likely be just as well to give one of them a home but I have been there and done that and prefer the knowledge I get with a purebred of known status. Have had some wonderful mutts but also have had some horrendous temperament issues along with health issues since mixing breeds doesn't eliminate poor genetic health or temperament, it simply hides it a bit. It is a good PR job to say that mixes have better temperaments and health, but that is all it is and isn't really based in fact, unfortunately. People mixing breeds rarely care about such things so the dogs used for making mutts are rarely of good health or temperament and with the inconsistancy of mixing, you can have a great tempered, healthy little dog that produces crazed fear bitting sickly puppies... just no knowing... except that the possibilities are for it not being the best in either area...

Nobody will like that but then most people don't handle the facts very well anyway :)

I have had mutts my whole life while growing up but 3 years ago i brought my first dog a purebreds, i would never get another mutt but i don't really have a reason why i just prefer purebreds. I did notice that they cost a lot more, and they seem to have more problems than mutts.

i love my mutt, but I will never approve of a mutt that has been created on purpose, like all these Poo and Doodle dogs. Designer breeds are a mistake, and with so many one of a kind dogs in the shelters, people need to stop making new mutts, just because they think it'll make something cute. If you want to make something cute, get some crayons or clay. Don't toy with living creatures.

Mutts based of experience with both, can't really see much difference a dog is a dog and the price tag of the purebreds is way to high. So I get a cheaper dog and maybe big vet bills (haven't yet) or I get a purebred and no vet bills ( I do doubt that though).
But hey it is not really about the money I just can't see the sense.
Had purebreds and mutts. I don't want to show or anthing I just want companion dogs and we need a guard dog as a deterrant. (The most spoilt guard dog you will ever see)

I think both can be great. I have a mutt and a purebred. I got the mutt from the humane society and he hasnt had any health problems so far. He will be 9 months in a few days. Since I got my rott from a reputable breeder I have had no health issues with her either and she just turned 8 yrs old a few weeks ago and still acts like a puppy.

It really doesn't matter to me. I have two mutts, and my family has has mutts and purebreds.

There's no proof to the "Mutts are healthier than purebreds" rumor.

If I want a mutt, I adopt. If I want a purebred, I'd check the shelters and the breed rescues, since I'm just in it for a family pet, not for a breed specific reason.

Purebreds, and don't get me wrong I've had mutts before that were great. I like purebreds because I like to know their pedigree, I also know what specific health problems to be on the look out for, and to test for. I know what basic temperment to expect. I also like knowing that when my puppy was conceived it was after the parents had all health test run on them, and not because an irresponsible pet owner didn't spay or neuter and ended up with an accident. I know they didn't come from a BYB who could care less.

First, I'm not snobby
Second, my dogs are not just some uppity spoiled dogs (well ok they are spoiled by hey who's isn't even the "mutts" are if you love your dog)
Third, for my dog in the pic I didn't pay no $1000 if was $2000 if you want to get technical.
Fourth and last, would you get over this mutts are healthier bs. Give me one shred of evidence (besides your opinion) that proves it. I know my dogs have a clean bill of health.
