My boxer/lab is about 5 months old. He's on Canidae right now but the vet gave me some Merrick Puppy Plate that I didn't even know they sold! I really wanted to give him some variety and mix the two, is that ok? What do you think?

I was just laying with my dog on my bed and when he got up there was a tiny white-ish worm were his butt was. I put the worm in a container just in case. I got him two months ago and he was clean and I use heartgard plus. I can't call my vet until Monday but should I be worried?

I heard there was an episode of the dog whisperer where Caesar teaches someones dog to not be aggressive toward other animals. I have a pit and he is somewhat aggressive toward a cat and I want another pit, but I do not want him being this way with the new dog. Can anyone tell me what that episode of the dog whisperer was about? Thanks.

We were walking into the Humane Society and a couple was turning in a stray dog. They rescued him and had for about 2 weeks, no one answered to their ads and posters. They gave him to us! We know he's brindle. But Boxer or Pitbull? He also has alot of Black Lab (webbed paws). Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have spent the last 11 years training dogs but strangely enough, I have never owned a male and female dog at the same time until now. I have a 5 year old male german shepherd and a 4 year old female bullmastiff. Over the last year my bullmastiff has started urinating in multiple spots in the backyard, it looks like she is marking spots like my male does. I took her to the vet and they didnt find anything wrong with her. They didnt do an MRI but did an xray and all the basic blood and urine work. Has anyone out there had a female dog that mimics there male dogs marking behavior??

i have a 9 month old mini dachshund and a 3 month old. the 3 month old tries to seem alpha by "riding" the elder. the elder will take it but then will mark everywhere. what do i do to deter him from doing so? neither one is neutered yet. the elder will be this coming week but the younger is my stud. any good ideas for stopping the marking?? (i do try to keep thier "mommy time" equal btw)
i am looking for home remedies though. we have a very limited budget, but all ideas are welcome!
thanks!

Cremation, bury him in your yard in a nice box, some people actually have them stuffed and sit them around the house.

It hurts me tremendously just to think about my dogs dying. But we have to prepare for their death just like we would our own. If your the kind of owner that actually cares about your pet. Especially my chihuahua, he is so human like some times its freaky. When he goes I'll probably need a prescription for Xanax, he definitely has my heart.

I've noticed a change in her over the past week. She is well-cared for, she's with me 24 hours a day. She eats well, and goes to the dog park 2-3 times a week. We have two other dogs in our household.
She is usually very energetic(about a year old) and playful. Lately she has been holding her head low, and is moping around. I am hoping someone can offer possible solutions. I have no reason to think that she is in physical pain, as I have been with her and haven't noticed any injuries.
She is still affectionate, and has started sitting in my lap. (She's a Belgian Malinios, not a lap dog, lol!)
Possible reasons for her change? Any help is appriciated.

I am thinking of getting a dog. which breed?

My mum wants it to be small (maximun height of a cocker spaniel), no wrinkles and cute.

We currantly have a rabbit and hamster so will need it to get along with them. We are not asking it to become best friends with them, I would just prefer it if it just ignored them.

We want the weekly cost of grooming and feeding to not cost much.

Basicly, all we want is a cute, lovable, companion puppy which will be spoilt rotten.

My mum tells me she wants a Chihuahua but if we get a chihuahua, should we get a long haired or short haired?

BTW, we live in Hemel Hempstead, you know, the place where buncefield exploded? Yeah.

Any answers will be appreciated.

P.S. we are fed up of people calling Chihuahua's snappy, annoying dogs. To be honestr, any dog will be snappy and annoying without propper training.

My distant neighbor adopted two puppies from the animal shelter a few months ago. He didn't keep them in a lot and just let them roam the neighborhood and they both took up at my house with our adult dog. My husband and I have fed and looked after these dogs for the last 3 months.

Last week we found one of the puppies dead on a neighbor's porch and buried it. We were extremely upset by his sudden death and thought maybe he'd been run over. Sunday evening I noticed the other puppy, who I named Jace, acting very lethargic and nauseous. I kept him in a cage in our house that night considering his brother had died only days before. I was worried they might have been poisoned. First thing Monday morning, my husband and I took him to the vet and he had parvo. He was there until Thursday and we were then able to bring him home.

The neighbor is now offering to pay for the vet bill, but I don't think he will take care of the dog. I consider him mine now and it has nothing

Ok, I went to a well known and respected pet store last night. At least that's what I thought.

I bought a dog that is called a chidorkie. It's chihuaha, yorkie, and doxie.

It isn't a baby, really, it's 5 months old. So it was in that pet shop, in a cage, for 5 months. Sad, huh?

Ok, well I bought him, and bring him home, and he is just freaked out. I have him a little calmed down, he ate some food, and he has played a tiny bit with my chocolate lab that I already had. But he wont drink anything. I'm really worried, because I don't want him to get dehydrated. I did what my papers say, to put some honey on a dish, or the roof of his mouth, and it didn't work.

I put the water dish in front of him and tipped it so the water was on the edge, and he took like 4 tongue fulls, but that's obviously not enough.

So I have 2 questions...

How do I get him to drink.
And what can I do to make him not scared?

I have toys for him, blankets, and pillows... (read on)

Some neighbours of ours bought a Collie puppy for their 11 year old son and the pup is now 9 months old. Right from the start we could hear the boy taunting it until it barked then reprimanding it when it did. They haven't got their garden fenced properly and he keeps escaping. The whole family shout and scream at it and I hear the boy threatening to whip it and I can see he has a very long whip. The dog never goes to them when they call it but is totally cowed. When it misbehaves they chain it at the bottom of the garden and leave it to whine pitifully. I have tried contacting the RSPCA but they only said that from what I had told them the cruelty was not 'sufficient' for them to intervene. Has anyone got any ideas what I can do, I can't bear to see and hear what is happening to a lovely puppy.

This morning, I gave my dog a pig ear treat...the first time a few days ago, I gave him one, he ate it right there. This time, he went to this little area of trees in my yard and buried it. I've never ever seen him do this before, so when I saw him do that, it amazed me that he did that..and then got me to wondering has he been doing it all the long? But when he saw me looking at him we held a long gaze, I don't know if he thought I wasn't suppose to see him, because it was almost as if he wanted to hide and do it. What should I do to get my dog to stop?

We got a mixed breed puppy for our daughter last year and for the most part he's a good dog except he's grown so attached to our daughter that he gets very aggressive if you go into her room barking and growling. He tries to get into her room at night and if we go to chase him out he'll get very aggressive and it's starting to worry us that he'll end up biting. There are times when he'll even jump etc if we give her a hug. Outside of that issue he's otherwise a pretty good dog. He'll be a year in November and he's a mix of several breeds including lab, sheppard and I personally even suspect perhaps some chow.
My question is how can we get him to calm down so that he's not quite so overly protective?
