i recently purchased two female guinea pigs and now one of them is having health problems. she is losing fur all around her eye and it is getting dryed out and scabby with little white bumps. And yes, i did call the vet right away, but Ms. knows nothing receptionist tells me that they are all booked today and the best she can do is take a message to the vetrinarian and that maybe he will get back to me soon. PLEASE HELP!!

Blot with cotton pad and lite hydrogen peroxide, let dry , some may pop keep blotting it carefully do not press and qtip on neosporin after. Thats what I did with my cats and it always helped. Neopsorin has antibiotic in it that in animals goes thru the system like a pill would a human. They can lick it too. Otherwise Google it and get more advise. Good luck.

Well, you think you've done everything you can, but you haven't. If you REALLY want to save your piggies, call an exotic vet that specializes in rodents/guinea pigs. They are normally always unbooked, so you don't have to worry! But hurry! there's not much time left!!!!!

Good luck!

P.S. I wouldn't try home remedies, as the dude below me sayed, because some of these can make it worse.

look for your local animal hospital and you will be able to take your guinea pig in right away. if there is not an animal hospital near you, start calling every vet around you and see which one will take you in. keep them seperate also, as it could be contagious. hope everything will be okay.

It sounds like a fungus problem. Call a pet store if you cannot call another vet.
