You can mix them, but don't need to...Canidae is the best food you could give him!

You can mix both dry and wet dog food, but I recommend you using the same brand. Dry food doesn't usually have that many benefits, besides the fact that it cleans teeth and lasts long. Wet food is normally more favored with the pets, but can dry out if left out in the open. Using the same dog food brand will prevent your pet from getting an upset stomach, and can be cheaper (depending on the brand). Before you choose a brand: check to see if that brand was involved in the 2007 pet food scandal, where lead was getting into the food. And it was mostly the dry food. Besides that check the ingredients to make sure your pet is getting premium ingredients. Good Luck!

With some dogs you can feed one and then the other, for variety, but some dogs get very sick. One of mine barfs if I have to change her food, which was irritating because it was an expensive prescription diet she was barfing! Sometimes mixing the two foods together prevents the dog getting sick, but not MY dog! She'll be sick for five days before she gets accustomed to the new food, no matter how gradually I introduce it. Unlike cats, dogs don't really care about variety in their food, but they do love a variety of smells. One thing I like to do for my dogs is take a piece of whatever meat I'm eating and rub it all in their bowls before putting their kibble in--they think it's fantastic!

Dogs don't need variety. It can upset their stomachs and cause loose stool. If there is a reason that you want to change foods (for example, if you are switching to a higher quality food), you need to make the change slowly, mixing the two foods and gradually adding more and more of the new food. Canidae is a very good food, and I would only switch to Merrick if your vet specifically recommended it for your dog for some reason.

It is completley fine. Just give 1/8 of Canidae and 1 or 2/8's of Merrick. Those are great foods. Your puppy will be getting most of the nutrients he needs. Just don't feed to much a day. Or you will be running out of dog food very quickley.

You see vets Just like Docs get paid for handing out samples so that people will buy the product.so just because your vet gave it to you doesn't mean its the best.anyway yes you can mix his food but he may not like it,but you can try.I heard yrs ago how great iams was suppose to be,now you hear bad things about it,i have raised every dog I've had on Kibbles and Bits and all of them were very healthy.so it's your own personal preference and your pups of course.....Mia...:)Oh but if you see him eating allot of grass he's got a tummy ache,Then i stop mixing, sounds like you were doing fine in the first place.

It will be just fine to mix the two. It actually is better than switching directly to something new. Our vet told me that when switching to a new food, it is good to gradually introduce the new stuff (i.e. mix with the old) so that the dog doesn't get a stomach ache.

EDIT:ALSO CANIDAE AND MERRICK HAVE DIFFERENT FEEIDNG AMOUNTS SO ITS HARD TO FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH TO FEED.i used to mix dog foods but its a lot easier and better when you just feed one.i also feed canidae and i think you should stick with it as it is a great food.of course you can mix it until the merrick food is over but after that you should just stick with canidae.if merrick really works for your dog and he likes it you can just feed merrick by itself.keep in mind that it is much mre expensive than canidae.when you introduce merrick do it gradually.

Dry foods to a dog can be mixed i suggest the one thats more unhealthy to have about one quarter of the bowl and the rest of the other kind.
