We were walking into the Humane Society and a couple was turning in a stray dog. They rescued him and had for about 2 weeks, no one answered to their ads and posters. They gave him to us! We know he's brindle. But Boxer or Pitbull? He also has alot of Black Lab (webbed paws). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Here are some pictures...

Definitly not a Boxer, looks like a mix with a Pitbull

AwWwWw!! He's adorable! : ) I don't really see any Boxer or "pit bull" (APBT, AmStaff or Staffie) in him though. I mean, there's really no way to tell unless you have a DNA test done, but he doesn't look like Boxer or "pit bull" to me. His fur is too long, his ears aren't shaped like Boxer or "pit bull" and his head isn't shaped like Boxer or "pit bull". I guess he could have a little bit of Boxer or pit in him, but not very much. Here's a picture of our male American Pit Bull Terrier, he's brindle as well, but you can see what I mean about the fur, head and ears.

We also have two female APBTs and they have a more slinder head and muzzle and their ears aren't exactly right for the breed, there a little long, but they still look like APBTs.

Out of the two, "pit bull" and Boxer, I would guess Boxer, but like I said, it doesn't look like much, if any at all. He's adorable though, no matter what he is! : ) I'm going to look around and see if I can find out what breed he might be and then I'll edit my answer.

I don't know, I can't really find any breed(s) that he looks a lot like. My guess would probably be some kind of Shepherd/ Lab/ Boxer mix? Like someone else said, once he gets a little older it might be easier to tell. It will help when you now how big he will be. After looking at the pictures some more though, I have to say, he definitely doesn't have any significant amount of "pit bull" in him at all. My husband and I have been around "pit bulls" our whole lives and we own three APBTs now, and I really don't see any pit in him.

He's just a good old mixed-breed, maybe part boxer and some other kind of water dog, but I'm not seeing lab...Enjoy him for whatever he is and thank you for giving him a good home.

He definitely has some lab in him, but I don't see any Boxer or Pitbull in him. Many vets offer a DNA test now that can tell the dog's heritage.

I suggest that you let the pup grow up a bit. Adults are easier to identify. If you like the animal and are able to take care of it, then it shouldn't matter much. In some cases you will not be able to determine parentage. Good luck! Enjoy your dog.

I'm not sure exactly what breed he is, but he sure is adorable. I love his markings. The vet, might be able to give you some kind of an idea on the breed. Good Luck!

He shows NO sign of pit bull in him at all. I don't know what he is, but by the looks of them paws, he is going to be a huge dog..

I don't see pit bull from the pics, and the ears don't look pit-y.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Boxer - Lab?
