i have a 9 month old mini dachshund and a 3 month old. the 3 month old tries to seem alpha by "riding" the elder. the elder will take it but then will mark everywhere. what do i do to deter him from doing so? neither one is neutered yet. the elder will be this coming week but the younger is my stud. any good ideas for stopping the marking?? (i do try to keep thier "mommy time" equal btw)
i am looking for home remedies though. we have a very limited budget, but all ideas are welcome!
thanks!

we are on a limited budget for the rest of the year. my hubby will be getting a better job starting in the spring and by that time our youngest would be getting to the age of breeding. yes i know the whole in and out of breeding (yes i know the costs and what needs to be done). i was just wondering for the time being what i can do to get rid of the "smell" and such to deter the eldest from making my house a mess. he can't be trusted on the floor without marking. what i have been doing is when i see him put him in his crate. i was just wondering what else i could do to get rid of the smell and what else would be a good way to deter him from marking. (yes i know i have to deal with it but that doesn't mean i have to smell it)

Have them both neutered.

If you are going to use your dog for stud then you will need to learn to cope with the marking behavior and be aware that once you have used your dog as a stud this behavior may get worse along with other undesirable behaviors.
The "alpha" position will need to be worked out between the two dogs without your interferance..it has nothing to do with "equal mommy time" but rather normal, natural dog behavior. There are no "home remedies".
There are belly bands for males that you can use so urine won't be all over your house. Many pet stores sell these.
If you have a limited budget breeding may not be a good idea either..it costs money to do it responsibly...you wil lneed to wait until your dog is at least 2 years old before using him as a stud..in addition you will need ot have genetic testing done (not just simple vet exams), you will need to show your dog or at least have him evaluated by 3 unbiased, breed knowledgable people to make sure he meets breed standard, you will need to carefully research his pedigree for at least 4 generations for health, longevity, temperament and breed standard, you will need to have a brucellosis test done...the same will need to be required of any future mates

i think they best way is 2 netured them
but if u don t wanna do that right now then just scold and punish them a bit when found doing so

me was having the same prob but now they r in control, whenever i find them doing so, i just used 2 pick them out and let them do their business.
and now they don t sparkel anywhere in my home
